Australian of the Year Taryn Brumfitt has another reason to celebrate, tying the knot with partner Tim Pearson in the Adelaide Hills.

Describing the evening as the “best night of my life”, Ms Brumfitt and Mr Pearson exchanged vows at the Bridgewater Mill on Thursday.

The body image activist shared the news on social media, posting a photo of the happy couple walking between rows of guests holding sparklers.

“Last night I married the love of my life, Tim, in an intimate celebration with just our kids, parents, siblings and close family,” said Ms Brumfitt, who was crowned Australian of the Year in January.

“It was the best night of my life. Tim and all the kids had prepared a speech, expressing the kind of words that make your eyes well up and your heart grow a little.

“Thank you to my friends for helping me pull together this wedding in record time because, let’s be frank, I was way too much of a relaxed ‘she’ll be right’ bride. It’s a miracle anything got done!”

Ms Brumfitt wore a dress by close friend, Adelaide artist and designer Tiff Manuell, which she described as “exquisite”.

“Oh, and can we have a moment for the dress? I rang my friend three weeks ago and said ‘I’m getting married in a few weeks and I don’t have a dress!,” she wrote.

“She made and hand painted this stunning silk gown. I’ve never seen a more exquisite dress in my life – thank you.”

Ms Brumfitt also gave a token of appreciation to the venue and wedding celebrant for “everything they did and the loving and warm energy.”

“The food, the service and all the extra little details added to the perfect finishing touches for our celebration,” she said.

“We are so grateful for everything to make our day so special,” she said.

Ms Brumfitt, who has three children with first husband Matthew, reportedly met Mr Pearson on a dating app, shortly after her previous 19-year marriage ended in 2020.
