Sweet McNuggets Hotcakes: Fans divided over new McDonald's 'secret menu' item

While some people say it's the "best Maccas hack yet," others argued that it was "disgusting" and made them want to vomit.

McDonald's share sweet McNuggets Hotcakes menu hack

Have you ever wished you could combine two of your favourite Maccas items - nuggets and hotcakes - into one delicious meal?

Well, now you can! (Well, you've always have been able to... but we've just never thought of it!)

Introducing... the 'Sweet McNuggets Hotcakes.'

You may be thinking, "What the heck is that?", but don't worry - it's not as gross as it may sound.

It's actually a play on the vastly popular American meal, Fried Chicken and Waffles, a dish that's beloved for its sweet and savoury flavour combo.

The hack has come straight from the golden arches themselves, with the McDonald's Australia Instagram account sharing the 'off-menu item' to their page this week.

But not everyone's convinced, with some sceptical fans calling the combo "disgusting" and "unnecessary".

How to order the Sweet McNuggets Hotcakes

Picture this: You're craving the sweet, syrupy goodness of hotcakes, but you're also in the mood for some savoury chicken nuggets.

What do you do? Well, according to McDonald's, you simply order hotcakes and a side of McNuggets and then combine the two. Simple! Sweet McNuggets hotcakes.

Taking to their Instagram, they broke down the secret off-menu hack and how to order it.

They captioned the clip: "Macca's Hack: Sweet Nugget Hotcakes! Try adding nuggets to your hotcakes for some sweet chicken deliciousness! 🥞"

"Order hotcakes with butter and syrup and three-piece McNuggets," they explained, as they selected the items on the self-serve screen.

Continuing, they instructed: "Stack the hotcakes and add the butter." Then, they spread the top pancake with the whipped butter before adding the McNuggets on top.

Finally, they said, "Drizzle the syrup on top."

"Now that's some sweet, sweet, chicken," they concluded.

"This is a step too far. This is just gross"

Many people shared their thoughts on the hotcakes hack and the reviews were mixed, to say the least.

Some praised McDonald's for their creativity, while others didn't hold back their disgust.

One user wrote, "This is a step too far. I'm all for mixing sweet and savoury, but this is just gross."

"I would devour it if starving and then want to vomit after," another admitted.

Someone else wrote, "Yuck. I'm not a maple syrup-on-pancake person in general let alone this... leave the poor nuggets alone."

"It's a no from me. This looks so gross - not even a really drunk me would be on board," another critic wrote.

"Literally just chicken and waffles but not crispy," someone else pointed out.

On the other hand, some people were all for the hack.

One Instagram user wrote, "I do this all the time. It's about time Maccas caught on."

And one mum wrote, "My teen would love it - two of his fave foods! But only with the maple syrup."

Another woman said, "This might just be the best Macca's hack yet."

Then this fan said they were 'obsessed' with the hack.
