South Australian weather may be temperamental but one positive about its extreme swings is that it makes for some pretty amazing weather photos.
From glorious sunsets, rolling clouds to bolts of lightning, the beauty of these natural occurrences are often caught by SA’s photography fanatics.
After asking readers to submit their best weather photos, the time has come to reveal the image that caused the biggest stir.
Andrew Burston’s photo of lightning over the Brighton Jetty struck a chord with voters in The Advertiser’s Best Weather Photo Competition and has been named the winning snap.
The electrical technician from Mount Gambier was visiting family when he captured his striking image.
“I was just in the right spot at the right time with the right gear,” he said.
Since photographing the Aurora Australia ten years ago, Mr Burston’s passion for low light photography flourished.
“I enjoy the thrill of the chase and the technicality of taking the shot,” Mr Burston said.
“It is primarily a hobby but I do sell some prints and small runs of local calendars.”
Mr Burston was excited to hear that he had won the competition, beating nearly 50 other images taken by professional and amateur photographers from across the state.
