Voting has officially closed for The Advertiser’s 2023 cutest baby competition, with the winner being announced very soon.

Almost 150 finalists have been selected and their cheeky grins, chubby cheeks and tiny toes are enough to melt anyone’s heart.

We revealed the 35 bubs taking the lead in The Advertiser’s cutest baby of 2023 competition earlier in the week.

We called on proud parents to share a photo of their bundle of joy born in 2023 and what makes them super special and you sure delivered.

So far we’ve heard from a mum who survived a traumatic birth on her bedroom floor and an MKR star who found herself pregnant again at 47, long after she thought her baby days were over.

Hundreds of people entered their charming children last year when we crowned 2022’s cutest summer babies as well as SA’s cutest toddlers.

THE 35 BABIES LEADING THE VOTE

January

Ayla, Salisbury Downs

“This little bear struggled with colic right up until five months old, we did everything to ease her pain and as much as you could see she wanted to be, she was not the happiest of babies in the first few months. Fast forward six months and pain aside we can now see that happy, cheeky girl who has the most infectious smile and is finally loving her life,” Natasha said.

“She is the happiest little girl ever. Always smiling and laughing. She melts everyone’s heart with her beautiful smile and chubby cheeks. She is the most gorgeous little soul ever,” Acacia said.

Charlotte and Isabella, Norwood

“MCDA twin girls born at 33.2 weeks. They spent the first 33 days of their lives in SCBU at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital. They are now six months old, thriving and the happiest bubbas going around. They are always holding one another hands and smiling at each other. Complete best friends already,” Hannah said.

February

Benji, Glenelg North

“Benji should be named the cutest baby in SA because he love to make as many people smile as he can, including his great Nan who reads The Advertiser every day. Plus mum and dad think it would be a great thing to remind Benji of at his 21st birthday,” Brooke said.

“Bowie Gray is 6 months old and is definitely the cutest baby in SA. He’s got the cutest, bubbliest little personality and whenever we’re out he never fails to get ‘he is so cute’ by lovely strangers,” Chloe said.

Daisy, Somerton Park

“Daisy should be named cutest baby because she has had a rough start to her short five months of life. After three days of labour, including failed tape and gels, not dilating quick enough and having to sit on a peanut shaped exercise ball to try to get Daisy in the right position it was finally time for Daisy’s arrival but she had other ideas,” Kylie said.

“The cutest thing our little boy does is gives the biggest smiles to everyone talking to him, before turning into your chest and acting all shy while still smiling. Grayson also likes to squeal with excitement, while reaching and holding each side of the faces of those he loves and leaves slobbery kisses all over them,” Ebony said.

“Happiest sweetest baby who makes even a stranger smile. A happy face that brightens everyone’s day,” Georgie said.

March

Cooper, Gawler

“You couldn’t tell Cooper had a week in NICU at birth, with his beaming smile and beautiful blue eyes. His favourite things are watching the dogs play, bath time, Elmo, and doing the Hokey Pokey before bed every night with his dad. His giggles are constant and he gives the best cuddles,” Nicole said.

“We were so very lucky to get pregnant with Louis on our first round of IVF. We can still not believe that we have our beautiful baby boy. Louis came a month early and was treated like a king in the Ashford Nursery until he was ship shape for going home. Louis is a very happy baby who has already brought so much love and happiness to our family. He loves being in his rocker watching Mum singing and dancing badly to the Wiggles,” Michelle said.

Sam, Seacombe Heights

“He’s such a calm, relaxed baby. Even when he was in hospital recently with RSV, he was so resilient and the nurses just loved him! I entered him because I obviously think he’s the most beautiful baby but everyone he meets also remarks how cute he is,” Emilie said.

“Gregory deserves to win SA cutest baby as he is a happy boy, always smiling throughout the day. He is also very gentle and cuddly. He was our miracle baby when he entered this world and scared us with a dramatic emergency caesarean entrance. He enjoys music, art and food, lots of food and is happiest when he is surrounded by his family,” Dimitrios said.

April

Rylee, Andrews Farm

“Rylee loves dropping her bottom lip and is usually followed by a smile. She doesn’t know whether she wants to laugh or cry most of the time,” Rebecca said.

Ethan, Blackwood

“Ethan is our third babe. After two girls – our surprise baby ended up being a boy. He was our first baby to not be after a miscarriage and my first rough pregnancy, labour and birth.

Ethan is a ball of light who has completed our family. He should be named SA’s cutest because put simply...... he is,” Sarah said.

Peyton, Willaston

“Peyton was born 2 weeks early, and arrived in such a hurry I didn’t have time to get to the hospital. She was delivered by mum at home on the bedroom floor, we didn’t realise she was coming until she pushed herself out. She was perfect when she came out, she was crying and healthy. We had some help from our awesome triple-0 takers who assisted us while waiting ambulances. Unfortunately I haemorrhaged and ended up loosing two and a half to three litres of blood, I’m lucky to be alive to enjoy our beautiful baby girl and her big sister being so smitten,” Samantha said.

“Lincoln loves to laugh and gives the best, and most cheeky smiles. It lights up the whole room when he flashes a big gummy grin at me. He has been trying to roll over since the day we brought him home and he loves having long conversations with his plush raccoon Bandit. I catch him chatting away with him often,” Jacqui said.

“First baby of the family, born in 5 hours from start of labour. At 12 days old he attended his first council meeting and barely made a peep, he is the son of two Councillors for the City of Salisbury. Not only is he the cutest baby, but absolutely the sweetest,” Lauren said.

Hayden, Loxton

“The poor little man has been though hell and back already as my family have turned their back on him as they believe 16 to young to become a mum. They also disagree to my choice of fostering children. He and his mum deserve more in life then bagging as motherhood has come naturally to my daughter, I cannot fault her,” Jenna said.
