Homeless helping hand - Corey Constable

AN act of kindness to a hungry homeless man at Elizabeth City Centre has attracted almost 7000 Facebook views and lots of online admiration.

Corey Constable, 21, who works at Coffee Smart, was the Good Samaritan.

When he found the man sitting outside the cafe early this month, Corey gave him a sandwich, a coffee, an umbrella and $20.

His sister, Melissa Fisher, filmed the encounter and posted it on Facebook.

“I went in to see Corey because I couldn’t afford to help the guy myself and I let him know there was a homeless man outside,” Mrs Fisher, 35, of Elizabeth Vale, says.

“Corey grabbed some food and a coffee, which he gave to him — he’s always been a really good guy.”

The following day, the man — who’d been sleeping rough — returned to the centre and was invited inside the cafe for a warm meal and chat.

“I just think it is common human decency to lend a hand to someone who is struggling,” Mr Constable, of Elizabeth Vale, says.

“It was really cold outside and he hadn’t eaten in three days.”
