Determination, grit and sportsmanship – this week we’re saluting an impressive field of Little Legends.

3/14SA Little Legend Hunter Kirk, 7, from Steel United Soccer Club. Hunter plays in the U8 and U10 sides. In a recent game, playing up in the older age group, he reportedly played an amazing game in defence, against opponents who were bigger than him. ‘All round, he played a great game,’ we are told. 6/14SA Little Legend Izaac Bristow, 5, from Southern Vales Christian School at Aldinga. We are told this young player ‘brings his game every week – he loves sport and thrives at it.’ However, it is his sportsmanship that is being celebrated today. We are told that during a recent game, after having scored a few goals for his team he passed the ball off to allow a teammate to experience the thrill of kicking a goal. ‘Right at the last moment on scoring another, he passed the ball to his friend right in the goal and said, 'you score, it's your turn'.’ We love this story, well done Izaac you really are a true little legend! 7/14SA Little Legend Hayden Hill, 10, plays for Happy Valley Vikings Football Club U12 side. We are told this season he has found confidence in himself, working hard at training. ‘In particular, his run and carry of the ball ... after working extremely hard at training and away from the club, he is now been able to run at full pace and bounce the footy with confidence. (In a recent game) he took a clean disposal off the ball from a ruck tap, he took the play on and passed an opposition player with momentum. The player gave chase but Hayden stayed composed, put the jets on, had a bounce and continued to run kicking into our forward 50. A huge effort and a great example of what hard work can do,’ his proud nominator says. Hayden is described as ‘a talented footballer and a quiet achiever’. It’s hoped Hayden will ontinue to believe what he is capable, help him take his football to the next level. Picture: Supplied
8/14SA Little Legend Beth Philbey, 12, is pictured here during the recent Sapsasa Netball Country Championships. Beth is described as ‘a great team member who likes to help develop skills in younger players. She is always seen with a big smile on her face and has an encouraging attitude’. We are told the talented young player has shown great attitude, sportsmanship, giving it his all in games played for the club’s U10 and U14 sides, named as the club’s weekly rising star. ‘Dane has many friends in his team and he loves playing hockey alongside them,’ he nominator says. 13/14These SA Little Legends eached played in the Southern Sapsasa football team, winning the second division Australian Football Sapsasa State Carnival.
