Right-wing dating app reviews claim users contacted by FBI

Reviewers of a dating app in the US have reported users were being contacted by the FBI, but the company has hit back saying they’re “clearly fake”.

Reviewers of a right-wing dating app founded by former Donald Trump staffers have reported users have received calls from the FBI after answering one particular question in their dating profiles.

The app, The Right Stuff, has already been received negative publicity after it was reported few women had signed up and the app’s invite-only system made it almost difficult for people to join.

But now, a third complaint is emerging in the app’s reviews – that answering a profile prompt question that asked “January 6 was …” has led to them being contacted by law enforcement.

The date in question was the same day in 2021 when Trump supporters stormed the US Capital after his presidential election defeat.

A scroll through the reviews in the app store shows several comments complaining of having a phone call from the FBI shortly after filling out the profile. The reviews however are left anonymously or under screen names, so those reports remain unverified.

Responding to the claims, a spokesman for the app dismissed the reviews saying they were “clearly fake”.

“Anonymous reviews in the App Store are not newsworthy. Especially when they’re clearly fake and just liberals trying to troll,” the spokesman said.

Among the “troll” reviews are complaints from people claiming to be users recounting their interactions with FBI agents.

“App asks about January 6th … I said I was there because I was, I’m a patriot … I get a call from an FBI agent the SAME DAY????,” reads one review.

“Seriously, what stunt are they trying to pull? Whoever developed this has to be deepstate setting us up … I came here to find love, not a damn warrant.”

Another wrote, “I answered the question about January 6th honestly and the next day I had two police officers at my door telling me that they got a call alleging that I was involved in domestic terrorism???

“Do not use this app unless you want to be harassed by left-wing fascists.”

Yet another commented, “I have a friend who worked as a coder on this app and he showed me proof that the FBI added backdoor access.”

Overall, the app is only sitting at a 2.5 star rating in the Apple store, with a large majority of the comments complaining about the lack of women.
