Tattooed ‘throuple’ upset Christian neighbours with relationship

When a “throuple” bought a new home together to cement their three-way relationship, they had no idea their unusual romance would offend.

Polyamory: What are throuples and why do people get into them?

A throuple living in a Christian community have detailed the abuse they suffer at the hands of their neighbours who have claimed their unusual relationship is “not what god intended”.

Tattoo artist Oscar Gonzalez, 38, from Puerto Rico, met bartender Sammie Sewell, 23, during a trip to the US in 2020.

The two said sparks flew instantly and they quickly became an item, having a long-distance relationship at first until Sammie made the move to be with Oscar.

However, the pair soon decided to start “experimenting” by bringing a third partner into the mix for casual hook-ups.

They enjoyed it so much, they decided to bring a third partner in permanently and eventually met Amanda Quiles, 22, on Tinder with the trio admitting they all clicked instantly.

“The three of us have now been together for two years and three months, are now living

together – we even bought a house,” Oscar said.

“We share bills and live under the same roof, we are practically married for all purposes.

“While three people cannot legally marry where we live, we have discussed doing an informal ceremony of some kind once we hit our five-year anniversary.”

Despite the unusual love arrangement, the trio admit they do get jealous from time to time.

“We get jealous sometimes but that is a human emotion and you have to work through it,” Oscar said, adding their families have accepted them as a threesome.

“My family is incredibly supportive, Sammie’s is as well so is Amanda’s mother, however, the rest of her family is not,” he said.

“Amanda’s extended family is extremely religious and does not approve of our relationship or lifestyle.”

“But luckily, my mother knows I live with two other women and is really understanding about it.”

But it’s not just Amanda’s family who struggle with the situation, after the trio bought a new home in a Christian community.

Puerto Rico is a highly Catholic country and walking in public with two women does sometimes attract “hostile” attention.

“We’ve been told our relationship is not what god intended and that was difficult to hear,” said Oscar.

“We get weird looks by strangers on the streets sometimes when they see me with two girls,” he said.

“Social media also has a lot to say about our lifestyle as we are very open with what we post on Instagram.

“People leave comments quoting Bible verses and saying things like, ‘God only wanted you to be with one woman,’ ‘You must have a personality disorder,’ and they say we must have low self-esteem.

“But we don’t put much stock in what they have to say; they are just jealous we feel.”
