Katija Cortez reveals why working in the sex industry reduces your dating pool

Katija Cortez has stated why working in the sex industry “dramatically” reduces your dating pool and the type of man that can’t handle it.

Around 40 per cent of Australians lie on dating apps

Katija Cortez is a high-class escort, and claims that working in the sex industry has “dramatically” reduced her dating pool.

A successful creator with more than 10,000 followers on Instagram, she is making big bucks in her niche profession but finding a man “secure” enough to accept her situation isn’t easy.

“It does dramatically reduce the dating pool in a lot of ways as it isn’t particularly easy finding a guy who is secure enough to accept this kind of relationship dynamic. Your partner being highly wanted and spoiled by men all around the world is not everyone’s cup of tea,” she told news.com.au.

Ms Cortez said her success hasn’t been a selling point to men and has found being a financially independent businesswoman “intimidates” them.

“I have three university degrees, a professional license and multiple investment properties. Needless to say, I am more successful, more educated, and wealthier than most men that I meet,” she explained.

“That makes it all the more difficult even without the element of sex work thrown in.”

While sex work can close down romantic possibilities, Ms Cortez said it also opens her up to different ones and introduce her to men that are more on her level.

“I’ve dated a few clients and male sex workers who I never would have met if it weren’t for being in this profession. I don’t have any time or desire for dating apps or going out to bars and things, so I basically exclusively date guys that I meet through work,” she explained.

Ultimately she’s found the men that are the most understanding of her job are clients or male sex workers.

“Obviously, because they get that it’s a job and have experienced the difference between paid sex or camera sex versus recreational sex. It’s very different.”

Ultimately, Ms Cortez has found that her sex career has changed the way she views relationships and that means she’s ditching the idea of monogamy.

“Many of my clients have girlfriends and wives, and the ones cheating on their partners with me are often the last men you’d expect. I’ve also begun to enjoy the variety, so I do think some type of open relationship is more what I am looking for going forward,” she said.

Ms Cortez said that finding love might be slightly harder because of her unconventional career, but that doesn’t mean she’s willing to give up her work for a man.

“If they can’t accept me as I am, then they clearly are not for me. You shouldn’t date someone if you want them to change,” she pointed out.

Plus she knows it is completely “possible” to find someone that isn’t bothered by her sex work, so she refuses to settle for less.

“It is possible to find someone happy to date a sex worker. I’ve seen it happen. These men do indeed exist. They’re just a little harder to find,” she said.

“I don’t want children, so I don’t feel bound to a body clock and, therefore, am happy to be patient and trust the process. I do feel like my future husband is out there somewhere. “Probably a currently married, but future divorcee.”
