A US woman has shared the brutal dumping lettter she was handed by her boyfriend — leaving her stranded after she’d moved across the country to be with him.

Jillian Lavin, 25, said she was blindsided when she was given the boot by her other half who she had been with for four years.

The musician relocated to a quiet, countryside-filled state from bustling Los Angeles for what she thought was an “amazing” relationship, stating she sacrificed her career and drained her savings in order to move.

But, shortly after hauling her life across the country, her “Texas farm boy” – who moved because he wanted to be close to family – announced the pair were “incompatible” in a savage break-up note.

After their relationship took a dramatic turn for the worst, Lavin channelled her pain into a song, which has since gone viral on TikTok.

“So you give up half of your career,” she states in the catchy-tune about the break-up which was shared on the official account of her stage name Spritely.

“Quit your improv troupe and have a goodbye party. Take months off of work, deplete your savings to pay for movers.”

She said she drove to Texas, which was “worth it” to be with the love of her life because he said he “wanted a future with her”.

Once she got to Texas, it was a month of waiting for her belongings to be delivered and another month to move in and build furniture.

“You’re so happy, until he comes back from family vacation. Sits on your couch that has just arrived, hands you a note that says ‘we have nothing in common and we’re incompatible’.”

Lavin later gavefurther insight into the note in an interview with The Cut.

“It was just your typical ‘As special as you are, I just don’t see a future with you, and I’m sorry that I made you move here, but I hope in time, you can forgive me’,” she said.

“It was pretty disappointing that it was such a short f*****g note.”

She said she knew as soon as he pulled the slip of paper out of his pocket, she knew what it was. Lavin added it was clear he’d had these doubts for a while, but it was the first she’d heard of them.

The video then showed Lavin breaking down in tears, asking how she hadn’t noticed after close to four years they weren’t compatible.

“Wow, what a surprise! Thank you for informing me,” she sung.

In her comment section, she explained that when her boyfriend said he wanted to move back to Texas she asked if he wanted company and he said “yes”.

She said she understood he likely hadn’t processed the extent of the commitment at the time, but wished he had broken up with her before she had moved.

Social media had a lot to say about the clip, which has amassed 2.5 million views to date.

“He made you move and handed you a note? I thought my ex was bad for moving back in with his mummy. You win,” one person commented.

Another said: “Boyfriends aren’t husbands. Don’t build your life around someone who isn’t fully committed to you.”

Others asked if the song was on Spotify, while some suggested that the boyfriend moving back to Texas was the first sign he wanted to break up.
