Footage has emerged of large bronze whaler shark being dragged back into the water after being caught near Brighton jetty.
The video, which was uploaded by TikTok user Dylan Liddle and tagged as “huge shark caught 20m off the beach in the middle of the day at a popular Adelaide beach while targeting eagle rays” shows a man dragging the 2m-plus shark off the beach and into the shallows.
Bronze whalers are a common shark in South Australia’s inshore waters and can grow as long as 3.5m and to weights of 300kg.
While the sharks have bitten humans in the past, most attacks are thought to be a case of mistaken identity and they are generally not thought of as dangerous to swimmers.
