Peter and Annabel Malinauskas announce they are expecting their fourth child in November

Life is about to get even busier in the Malinauskas household, with the Premier revealing a fourth child is on the way.

Life is about to get even busier in the Malinauskas household.

Premier Peter and his wife, Annabel, a corporate lawyer, have confirmed they are expecting their fourth child in November.

The new arrival will be a little sister or brother for Sophie, 8, Jack, 5, and Eliza, 3.

“We’re all very excited,” Mr Malinauskas said on Monday.

“Particularly Eliza, she’s the one that’s talking about it the most. The other two are excited about it too, but Eliza’s very inquisitive.

“She’s become a real talker in the last few months, so she’s sort of asking ‘baby, mummy, tummy, baby come out?’”

Mr Malinauskas said he and Annabel would not be finding out the gender of the baby – and insisted they have no preference.

“We’ve done the surprise option the last three times so we’re going to try and be consistent, so we’ve got no idea,” he said.

“It’s such an obvious thing to say but it’s absolutely true. You just hope that it’s a healthy baby and a healthy pregnancy and a healthy mum.”

Asked about the change from three children to four, he said “it’s pretty hectic and chaotic at home, I won’t lie”.

“So we figure that it will just be another bit of chaos on top,” he laughed.

“We know a couple of other families that have got four kids and they’ve all said that the jump from two to three was harder than the jump from three to four.

“I hope that’s true. Hopefully they’re not just trying to stitch us up.”

Mr Malinauskas told Deputy Premier Susan Close the news, then let the remainder of Cabinet know last week.

Dr Close will be Acting Premier while he takes a period of paternity leave when the baby arrives.
