“He just kept waking up and silently crying to himself."

A dad has been incredibly candid about a major transition that many parents struggle with.

Sitting in his car, Eric became emotional as he reflected on the major change in his family dynamic, on camera

“I’m not really sure about how people go about handling the transition from one to two kids. I feel like it’s really hard,” the tearful father shared.

"Can it just be us?"

Recently Eric, his wife, and son, Kidd, welcomed a new addition into their fold.

In fact, it was a beautiful surprise for all of his extended family. At the beginning of January, the dad-fluencer posted a video entitled ‘surprising our family with a baby (they had no idea my wife was pregnant)'.

But now, the juggle of a toddler and a newborn has sunk its brutal teeth in. One of the biggest challenges has been Kidd's adjustment.

“His whole life has changed,” Eric said.

After pitching the idea of a walk with the baby to Kidd, the response pulled at the strings of his father’s heart.

“He was like ‘please no please, can it just be us? You’re my best friend. Please just hang out with me’,” Eric recounted, understandably choking up.

In another instance, he explained the impact the new baby has had on sleeping arrangements.

“He just kept waking up and silently crying to himself,” Eric explained.

When Eric asked what was wrong, the youngster explained he just wanted someone to snuggle with him.

“I’ve spent the last two nights in his little tiny bed that’s like three feet long,” Eric chuckled.

"True father"

Eric feels the pressure from all directions.

While managing his son’s emotional response, he’s also trying to ensure his wife and newborn are okay.

“We’re figuring it out. If you have any tips I’d love to hear them,” he told his 499,000 Instagram followers.

Many had incredible advice.

“A tip: ship a box to your son with his favourite sweets/snacks and a ball/toy, from his baby sibling,” came one suggestion.

“Have your older child help with the baby, that will help them feel important and like they are in control,” another commenter suggested.

There was no lack of praise for the father’s emotional intelligence.

“This isn't just a dad - this is a true father,” one person complimented, and another agreed, writing, “This is just the sweetest most necessary thing on the internet."
