Dad shares the common 'compliment' his 3yo gets which makes his skin crawl
"It’s inappropriate."
While calling a toddler 'cute as a button' might seem innocent, one father has explained why it can actually be “creepy.”
“If you see a cute toddler or little girl in public, this is what you don’t say," he told his followers on TikTok.
The dad went on to explain that while out and about with his three-year-old daughter, people often stop to compliment her... But some cross the line.
“She’s very cute and everybody every time we go out in public likes to tell us how cute she is, which is fine,” he explains.
“There’s always typically like an older man that ends up saying something.”

“It happens literally every time we go out somewhere”
While he believes most mean well, the comments leave a sour taste in his mouth.
“They’ll be like standing there looking at my little girl and be like ‘oh she’s so sweet’ ‘she’s so cute’ and I’m like 'yeah, thank you..."

But what really makes his skin crawl is what can come next.
“They’re like, ‘dad, you’re going to be in trouble when she’s about 14 or 15’ or ‘you better have your gun ready when she turns 20 or 16. She’s going to be trouble,’” he said
“Talking about how my three year old little girl is going to get all the guys and she’s going to be in trouble and stuff when she’s older... That is creepy and it’s inappropriate... it happens literally every time we go out somewhere.”
He believes he’s not alone in this, stating "it’s a common thing. I’m sure other people experience it too."

"What is wrong with people?"
He was swiftly proven right.
His comment section quickly filled with parents who’d had similar experiences.
“I have a five year old boy and have also heard very weird comments. Like ‘oh, he’s going to be popular with the ladies when he’s in high school.’ Or from grown ass women, ‘if only I was 20 years younger or he was 20 years older,’” one mother shared.
Another agreed: “literally when my daughter was 6 months old an old man who we didn't know passed us and said ‘those thighs are gonna get her in trouble.’ Like she’s a baby?”
“What is wrong with people? This old man came up to me the other day when I was out with my 3 year old and said ‘God makes them cute so you don’t get rid of them when they turn 13.’ Like why do they think we need the commentary? They just can’t help themselves,” a third added.
For this father, and many parents the standard is clear. A compliment shouldn’t make a parent’s skin crawl.
