Pregnant Aussie mum buys all of unborn daughter's clothing for entire year

“Yes it looks overkill, but once it’s put into the categories, it makes sense."

An organised pregnant mum has prepared for her unborn baby's arrival by purchasing all of her clothing for an entire year.

Celine, who is expecting her third child - and first daughter - in about ten weeks has shared a video to TikTok showing piles of baby clothing.

The NSW mum explains in the TikTok video that she stocked up on items for her daughter to grow into over the next year, as most were on clearance.

The clothes range in size from five zeros - which is for a ‘tiny newborn’  - all the way to size one, which is usually suited to a one-year-old.

"This is a whole year's worth of clothes"

As the video pans a room with large piles of girl clothes, the 29-week pregnant mother acknowledges that it does look like “a lot”.

“A lot of people would think this is a lot of clothes for one little baby,” she starts the video.

“But this is a whole year’s worth of clothes. Each pile is a certain size, we’ve got three zeros, four zeros, two zeros and one zero, this is size one, and I also got a bit of five zeros.”

“But I’m telling you it only looks like a lot, because of the way it is stacked.

“I’m going to go through each category, and show you what I’ve got.”

She explains that her baby is going to be a ‘summer baby’, and while she understands newborns grow at different rates, she is going off her experience of her sons wearing the newborn size, or 0000, for three months.

"It looks overkill... but it makes sense"

Taking followers through the clothes she purchased in 0000, she shows a pile of little dresses and one-pieces.

“This pile of is just outfits... more dresses, like she would wear out. It does look like a lot but some will be just for photos,” she says.

Celine also shows three sets of long sleeve shirts and pants, two sets of summer singlets with frilly shorts, a pile of under singlets, leggings and onesies.

“I have about ten onesies - which I think is a good amount, because by the time you put some in the baby bag, you’ve got to wash some, they vomit on themselves, their nappy leaks, I think you always need spares,” she says.

She also has a thicker onesie, four short sleeve onesies, two jumpers, nappy cover ups, long sleeve body suits, shorts and T-shirts and pants with socks built in.

Pointing to the piled up clothes on a dresser, she explains, “all of this up here is quite similar, except as we get into two zeros, and one zero, it comes with more trackies and jumpers for daycare”.

Justifying her organisation, Celine says most of the items were heavily reduced.

“Yes it looks overkill, but once it’s all put into the categories, it actually makes sense," she says.

“I do clothes washing every two to three days… plus a lot of this was all on clearance.”

"My son went through 10 outfit changes a day"

The video attracted comments from parents who were similar in their shopping styles, and others who warned that babies grow at their own pace.

"You can never have too many clothes when it comes to kids, my son went through ten outfit changes a day as a baby," on mum shared.

Another mother replied, "I have clothes for when she’s 12-18 months and she’s currently only three months."

Others thought it was savvy, "when things are on sale why not just stock up while you can?"

However some parents warned you never know "how fast she’s going to grow and what the weather will be".

"My six-month-old was in size one and I regret pre buying so many clothes that he never wore," one person commented.

"Buy as little as possible before baby"

A mum of twins replied to the video, with her own clip, explaining that if other pregnant mums didn’t have a similar haul, there was no need to worry.

“We do not have anywhere near that many clothes, for two babies, and it's completely fine," she says.

Eliza instead advised expectant parents to "buy as little as possible" before the baby arrives.

"Sometimes your baby might be really big, sometimes your baby is really small, sometimes your baby is premature - you never know," she says.

“That’s why I think it’s a bit risky to be buying clothes more than three months ahead, especially if they’re winter or summer specific clothes."

“Secondly you don’t know what you like, some people like body suits that clip at the bottom, some people only like zippy ones... My advice is always to buy less, and then run out or buy online if you need."
