‘My MIL stole my moment by hugging my husband first at our gender reveal’

A pregnant woman has shared the moment she felt shattered by her mother-in-law, but the internet doesn't get the hate - instead they’re blaming someone else. 

A first-time mum has shared a video showing the moment her mother-in-law “stole her moment” at her own gender reveal.

The pregnant mum posted a clip, which has since gone viral on TikTok, showing the moment her excited mother-in-law “ruined” her gender reveal.

Uploaded to the account life.w.kianna, the video shows a pregnant Kianna and her husband standing together before they pop a balloon with blue confetti in front of a crowd of people.

The slow motion clip shows the expectant dad facing their friends and family with his arms in the air, as his mum rushes into to hug him, before he embraced his wife.

"She did apologise after"

The video captures pure devastation on Kianna’s face as her husband turns his back on her.

In text over the video, Kianna writes, “this trend but with my MIL stealing our moment by getting the first hug from my husband”.

In the caption, she clarifies, “she did apologise after, no hard feelings” with the hashtag, ‘motherinlawproblems’.

Internet turns on husband not MIL

The clip has now been watched 3.7 million times, with 172,000 likes and nearly 1500 comments. 

However instead of the internet sympathising with Kianna's MIL woes, they are directing their criticism towards her husband.

Many commented that it was his fault she felt deflated after their special moment.  

“That was 100000% your husband’s fault,” one user said.

A second person wrote, “I get your feelings but he had his back to you, and was walking away from you. I’m sorry it happened regardless."

Someone else commented, “I kind of feel like his reaction should have been to turn towards you and hug you”.

Another follower stated, “It’s him. He should have ran to you immediately.”

"She ran in before confetti hit the floor"

Kianna replied to the response in a comment saying: “(My MIL) ran in before the confetti hit the floor, why does no one understand this is in slow motion. She didn’t give us enough time before she ran in.

“Her hands were already reaching out to him and he saw it. I wouldn’t want him to deny her hug. Just wish she would have waited.”

When someone else suggested that her husband “could of turned to you and hugged you first” she replied that she agreed, and had talked to him about.

Someone else defended the mother-in-law saying, “calm down its his mum she’s happy for both of you”.

While a future mother-in-law asked what she should do, “so do I wait for them to have their moment then hug the girl? Or wait and hug my son lol serious question”.

Another MIL steals a pregnant mum's moment

It comes as another video is doing the rounds on TikTok showing the exact same disappointment at a gender reveal. 

Uploaded by mum-to-be Alyssa (@abmontgomery07), the clip shows the expectant mum and her partner popping blue confetti, before her mother-in-law runs up to embrace her husband before she gets the chance to.

The video, with the caption “is my MIL having his baby or am I”, has been seen two million times.

The gender reveal was uploaded over a year ago, but has recently been given a second life, after @jessicabaileyhassan, reacted to the video saying, “Ladies, this is your sign. If he’s a mama’s boy, if he has a ‘boy mum’ that’s overbearing and she’s already bothering you before the marriage, run.”

Her clip has viewed more than 7.1 million times with, 853,000 likes.
