'My baby girl is in her last nappy. Can you please help?'

"I'm so embarrassed to put this out to the world, but she'll soon be wrapped in a towel and plastic bag."

"I'm embarrassed to put this out into the world," a mum admits at the beginning of a heartbreaking TikTok. 

"My baby girl is in her last nappy right now and I can't afford to get any for another week," she continues, adding that she'd need to her soon wrap her two-month-old in a towel and plastic bag.

"Life is hitting hard right now and we're barely able to afford a roof and food. I'm desperate at this point. If you can help out, I'd be so so grateful."

She then shared her PayPal account name, '$3pointo47', so people could transfer her money.

"I'd be so so grateful"

The mum, Marissa, explained in the caption, "I would never post this if I weren't desperate and if it wasn't for my baby," referring to her two-month-old daughter. 

She's currently living in a motel and is looking to secure a pet-sitting job to afford a place to stay, as she says government benefits aren't enough for her and her family to make ends meet. 

In addition, she says she has a low credit score, so renting is "nearly impossible," and she doesn’t have any family or close friends she can lean on.

"Hope things get better mama"

Many people commented to share their love and support for the mum. 

"Sent you $5, all I can really afford. Hope things get better, mama," one replied before thousands flooded her video with similar messages.

"Just sent you something, it's not much but I hope everything gets better for you," wrote another.

"I'm praying for you and your daughter. I hope you guys get better and there’s no need to be embarrassed," said a third. 

Meanwhile, another viewer admitted: "Melts my heart..."

After the video racked up 1.2 million views, Marissa updated her followers, saying: "Blessed to report that I received just enough money to get a box of diapers for my baby girl - should last us a couple weeks."

In her subsequent GoFundMe page, the mum explained: "When my baby girl was in her last nappy and I wasn't able to get her more for another week, I wrapped her in a towel and plastic bag and posted a TikTok asking for help as a last resort.

"I wasn't prepared for the amount of traction my little video would get and the amount of generous people there'd be in the comment section. Several folks have asked me to start a GoFundMe to help get us into a home and not worry about diapers for my girl. So here it goes..."

She then explains that her husband, "an extremely skilled craftsman", has suffered from "chronic GI issues" for almost 30 years, forcing him to become self-employed as his pain disabled him from keeping a "normal job."

The mum also says the family have been in and out of homelessness and had to sell off all their belongings as they moved from place to place. 

"Every dollar raised is going towards getting our now two-month-old baby girl a safe place to call home. That includes rent, security deposits, and all baby essentials (nappies, wipes, crib, clothes, blankets, books, etc)" she concluded.

"Thank you so much for all your prayers, donations, love, and encouraging messages that have been sent my way thus far. I am forever grateful."
