'My 12yo is dress-coded so much, I could make an album out of the letters'

"Schools are getting ridiculous, making children dress for the office job they're probably not gonna work in, and then limiting their education over it!"

My daughter is dress-coded at school, we have so many letters it could be a book

A mum has shared on TikTok that her daughter is dress-coded so much at school, she could make an album out of the letters.

One of the more recent letters sent home was the size of "an essay," apparently, and detailed her 12-year-old's latest infringement, among other things.

In the video, she said, "Ruby's home. And we've also got another school letter."

"I am gonna make an album for Ruby of these letters so that she can look back on them when she's older."

The school's lengthy dress code

The mum went on to reveal why her daughter was sent home, saying it was because her "skirt was too short."

Ruby was wearing a black skirt, which was in keeping with the school's uniform policy but failed to meet the school's length standard, the letter claims.

It sat just above the knees rather than on them or below, which her mum says is because Ruby is tall for her age, which makes finding the right skirt length difficult.

Despite the school saying that just the skirt was the only issue (this time), they still attached a list of the school's entire dress code policy.

"Ruby Ellen is currently not adhering to the school uniform policy, in relation to this, here's the list of school uniform," the mum read out from the letter.

The policy included wearing tailored trousers, not skinny jeans, or leggings. Children must also not come to school wearing Lycra polishable shoes, boots, sandals, high heels, canvas shoes, pumps or trainers.

Finally, no makeup, coloured bobbles, hairbands, or facial piercings are allowed and students must also wear black socks and a blazer.

Viewers were shocked at the lengthy school uniform list, which some people called 'ridiculous'.

"Schools are so unreasonable"

One person who replied to the clip, which now has 1.9 million views, said: "Schools are getting ridiculous, making children dress for the office job they're probably not gonna work in and then limiting their education over it! Stupid."

Another added: "Schools are so unreasonable."

"That’s so stupid. Why are the rules so strict?" a third asked.

"The thing teachers should worry about is us actually turning up to school; I don’t get why all these rules matter, at least we go to school," someone else wrote.
