'I'm a DJ and a dad. I made a nightclub at home for my toddler'

"Toddlers are basically a lot like tiny drunks."

The DJ dad turning nursery rhymes into techno tunes

Former Justice Crew boy band member turned DJ, Lenny Pearce, is carving a whole new path for himself since becoming a dad just 18 months ago.

While his award winning career in music was cruising along very well, it was his techno version of ‘Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes' that first garnered attention, followed by his remix of 'Wheels on the Bus’ that sent him global.

One of his TikTok clips featuring his daughter enjoying his signature 'Wheels on the Bus' mix has to date reached over 16 million people around the world.

And he has since launched a whole new genre, 'toddler techno', that has both the kids and their parents throwing shapes on the lounge room dance floor.

This fun duo have children's entertainment wrapped up

As the twin brother of the Purple Wiggle John Pearce, the fun-loving pair have childrens entertainment in Australia all wrapped up.

Unsurprisingly due to his connections, DJ lenny has been giving a number of the popular Wiggles songs a ravers ‘glow up’.

In April The Wiggles released a whole EDM album,'The Wiggles Soundsystem: Rave of Innocence' which features all their hit tracks tracks -  from hot potato to Big Red Car with signature DJ Lenny beats.

Outside of his collaborations with his famous brother, Lenny is leaning into his role as a raving dad by creating adorable TikToks where he brings rave into his little girl's life.

First with his music, then by adding some covetable props such as a disco ball and mini DJ decks to pimp her stroller.

One recent TikTok proving a hit with fans, is his toddler sized nightclub and ‘regression rave’ that he made at home for his daughter, complete with a tunnel entrance, ball pit, disco lights and interactive toys with a banging soundtrack.

“This is brilliant,” said one user on TikTok

“This is the best thing I’ve ever seen,” exclaimed another, with a different fan praising the concept of toddler techno for both kids and parents alike: “Nothing makes me happier as a 90s raver than my toddler being able to enjoy all these hits! You sir are a legend in making.”

"Toddlers are a lot like tiny drunks!"

This week on panel show The Project, DJ Lenny explained how he got started creating these banger tunes from traditional nursery rhymes.

“When I'm working on music at home, she's like looking at what I'm doing,” he said.

“So I just wanted to remix songs that she knew, and you know put them online and one thing led to the next and now I'm here (on TV)!”

While he might have started out making his toddler techno for his daughter, it seems his audience is much broader.

“With my music, it's like you think it's for kids, but I'm actually making it for the parents… and I mean toddlers are basically tiny drunks!”

From boy band to DJ and now back to children’s entertainment, DJ Lenny’s career has gone full circle and is now mirroring that of his twin.

“Well it's kind of evolved that way and I think we just have to take every opportunity as it comes.”

Rave on kids!
