Entitled mum's outrageous airport act with baby shocks passengers

"Another mum said we could do this. But then people began screaming at us."

Mum's velcro solution for keeping baby secure on plane

Plane travel is hard enough without having to deal with entitled parents, too.  But was this mum entitled?

One mum this week learned just how much people can get annoyed by a baby when they're in an airport - claiming she was shouted by strangers for what she thought was a legitimate move - not entitled, as they accused.

"Relieve a bit of the stress"

The mum explains that she was travelling with her husband and their three-month-old, and although they had booked priority boarding and lounges, they still faced a long queue to check in bags.

"We had booked priority, lounges and everything we could to relieve a bit of the stress," she explained.

"Priority queue was quite long to check in luggage, but we started queuing nicely," she continues. "Another mum came along and told us we could jump the line, which we did gladly as baby started stirring a little bit."

But the mum claims her move "enraged some of the people."

"[They were] literally shouting that it was very out of order and that was no such thing as baby class, and what is wrong with you people etc."

The reaction shocked the mum as she said that at every other queue - for example, security, customs and boarding - they were invited by staff to go straight to the front.

So, she wanted to know if she had been, ahem, out of line - literally.

"You can't go to the front just because of a baby"

The comments section of the post was very divided.

One reasoned, "If offered by the person in front of you, fine. But only to take their place. I'd be very pi**ed off if you went to the front of the queue just because you had a baby."

Another agreed, writing, "Unless asked by a member of staff, then yes it's a bit rude! I'm not sure that it's a rule?"

And a third brutally added, "Some rando suggested you jump the queue and you're feeling shocked at the reaction. Do you get out much?

"Yes of course move to the front when staff invite you. Feel free to ask those in front if you have a baby or toddler-related emergency. Otherwise, wait."

Not everyone thought that, though, and said they wouldn't have an issue with the mum's move.

"Usually they invite people with young children up first. I wouldn't have jumped the queue unless invited personally but I wouldn't have an issue with you doing it. The people shouting at you were unreasonable," one wrote.

Another shared, "Airport staff invited me and my family to the front as toddler running about and wouldn't queue. Anyone who's been there will understand. So yes, it's a thing."

Finally, this mum had this perspective: "The thing is that everybody's got a booked seat so why does it matter if people jump the queue if it makes it easier for them?"
