'I parked in a parent parking space without kids, then a mum confronted me'

But was she wrong?

Parking controversy: pregnant but no kids, am I in the wrong?

The rules around who can use parent and child parking spots might be a little open to interpretation, as one woman found out when she got out of her car without any kids in tow.

In a TikTok clip mum Kelly Convey explains that as she returned to her car, she was immediately questioned by another mum parked in the space beside her.

The young mum begins her short video saying that she knows these parking spaces are officially for parents to give them “extra room to get out of the car” when they have little kids.

However she wasn't strictly 'without' kids at all.

"I am horrifically pregnant"

“I had just been shopping and I quite clearly do not have any children with me,” Kelly says in the clip before directing her phone down to reveal her big baby bump.

“But I am horrifically pregnant. I am so f%$#*&g pregnant, I couldn't be more pregnant. Okay, I'm nine months pregnant,” the funny mum continues as she explains what happened when she got out of her car.

“This woman was in the car next to me and she's putting the kids in the car and [she says] ‘Excuse me, excuse me, this is for parents and children and you haven't got your children with you’.”

This criticism from a fellow mum on her decision to use a parent and child spot, prompted an emotional outburst from the nine month pregnant Tiktok user.

"I am a parent and child at once!"

“Excuse me, ‘sister’, but I have a child exiting my vagina any moment now. I have a child's head in my pelvis about to exit my body. I couldn't be more parent and child if I tried. I'm more parent and child than you as I am a parent and child at once!

“You need the space to get your pram and your child in your car but I need the space to get my uterus out of my car. My uterus is bigger than the normal [parking] spaces!”

Kelly then goes on to say that of course she didn’t say any of those things, rather she sort of smiled and said nothing. She then asks her followers for their thoughts on whether parking in that spot was justified in her near birth condition.

“My question is: was I in the wrong here? Because I don't physically have a child outside of my myself, or was I justified in the fact that I am virtually crowning. And I just didn't want to do those extra steps and to squeeze out of my car in a normal sized space?”

The clip which has been viewed over 100,000 times received plenty of comments, mostly from other mums who felt Kelly absolutely did the right thing and other mum was maybe just having a bad day.

“You’re totally right," one woman posted.

"Sister needs to go take her argument up with the guys who park their (insert giant 4x4 vehicles) in the spaces so it doesn’t get scratched - I see that constantly in my local supermarkets!"

"100 percent justified"

A second mum agreed Kelly did the right thing.

"100 percent justified," she wrote.

"You’re with child, you need the room to get in and out! I used it when I was heavily pregnant!"

"I had to crawl out the boot!"

Another mum exclaimed: "Park there!"

"As someone who was pregnant and had to crawl out the boot just to get out their car in a normal space!"

Finally, a pregnant mum shared the moment she realised she really should have parked in the wider pram spot.

"When I was 39 weeks pregnant I parked in a normal space.  I came out the shop and someone had parked that close to my car I could not get in so I had to ask a random man to reverse my car out for me!"

All being considered it seems the votes are in and Kelly and her uterus really deserved that space after all.
