I got my 4yo a Louis Vuitton bag - some say she‘s a spoiled brat but it’s an investment

“We wanted to get her one that would last forever - that's why we like investing in these bags,” mum Christi defends in the video.

Ohio-based mum Christi wanted to get her daughter a gift she would appreciate forever, something beautiful that she could enjoy as she gets older.

So she and her husband took their four-year-old daughter, Noelle, to the shopping centre to buy her a treat.

What was the treat, you ask? A lollipop? A stuffed toy? No - a Louis Vuitton bag.

Parents buy 4yo Louis Vuitton bag as an “investment”

The family-of-four began their shopping journey by going to other designer stores, including Prada, Dior and Louis Vuitton.

“We let her look around a bit to decide if she really wanted a Louis Vuitton or if she wanted something else,” mum Christi said in the TikTok clip

The four-year-old, Noelle, was captivated by the array of designer bags and purses she passed, touching them and smiling at her parents.

“Everything in here was so beautiful, and I knew it was going to be hard to choose just the one,” said Christi.

Noelle had a hard time choosing what bag she wanted and was tossing up between a few different designs.

In a follow-up video, Christi and Noelle did an unboxing of the 4yo’s designer gift, showing off the expensive item they chose.

“There were literally so many options at the store, so it was so hard to pick one, but this is the one that she chose,” Christi said, tapping the luxurious gift-wrapped box.

Inside was a large, brown vintage Speedy Bandoulière 30, which retails for $2,354 and is almost the same size as the four-year-old.

“It's kind of big for her right now, but it's definitely something she can use forever,” Christi said.

Noelle didn’t let the bag size faze her, proudly saying, “I like it so much!” as she slung the straps on her shoulder. “I'm gonna put inside toys!”

You may wonder why Christi and her husband wanted to buy such an expensive gift for their four-year-old, and they had a very simple reason: it’s an “investment.”

“We wanted to get her one that would last forever - that's why we like investing in these bags,” she said. “Plus, the prices of them always go up.”

Designer handbags have become an increasingly popular form of investment, with some luxury goods retaining their value, meaning they can be sold at a profit in years to come.

But not all designer bags were born equal, nor do they have the same resale value.

Designers like Chanel, Hermes and Louis Vuitton traditionally have the best resale value, but this entirely depends on the bag's condition, the rarity of its design and the material it’s made from.

Luckily, the bag Noelle reportedly chose has high resale value - what a clever four-year-old.

“A child doesn’t need this … this is ridiculous!”

A sound investment or not, people online weren’t impressed with the expensive gift to the four-year-old.

“Buying an LV bag is not investing,” wrote one unimpressed person. “Is this a joke?” asked another.

Some accused Christi and her husband of raising a “spoiled brat”, whereas others doubted the 4yo's involvement in choosing the bag.

“Maybe [you] should buy kids stuff for a kid,” one wrote. “A child doesn’t need this, and all this teaches is materialism. This is ridiculous,” someone agreed.

“Nah, she's so b**ody young, and you're getting her an LV bag? What the hell, this is insane and ridiculous,” an angry comment read.  “This is ridiculous. The bag is huge for her,” chimed in another.

“This bag is just for the mum, lmao,” read a comment. “No way that a child chooses a boring bag.”

“You could have taken her to Claire’s I’m sure she would’ve been just as excited,” said another.

But the luxurious gift wasn’t as crazy to others, arguing they had the right to spend their money how they choose.

“You can buy whatever [with] your hard-earned money and it’s amazing,” shared a fan. “It’s very cute, she’s lucky to have a mum like you,” said another.

“I think this is actually beautiful, a timeless piece that one day she can pass onto her daughter,” someone defended.
