Gen X mum has two extra kids to 'spite her childless daughter'

"I'm Gen X, and I have a huge problem with how I am left carrying the weight for millennials."  

A mum has publicly complained about her "selfish" daughter, who says she won't have children in the future. 

Her post has gone viral because she's put her frustration in terms of: "I'm Gen X, and I have a huge problem with how I am left carrying the weight for millennials."

Yes... there's a lot to dissect.

"Those souls still need to be born"

She begins her post:

"I'm 42 and my daughter is 22. She decided a while ago she does not want any kids. She's actually getting a procedure for sterilization next year.

"But those souls needing to come into our family for ancestral or karmic reasons still need to be born. So I'm stuck birthing and raising two babies who should have been born to her but can't be because she's too selfish to have kids.

"We joke how my 1.5 year old girl — her sibling — is actually hers but she just didn't want to have it. But deep down? It's not a joke.

"If she wasn't so selfish, I wouldn't have a toddler daughter right now."

"Giving Gen X a bad name"

Many commenters on the post were horrified for a number of reasons.

The judgement of her daughter's decision: 

"My daughter, 26, is not having kids. I am happy that she’s happy. She’s healthy, and she enjoys life. It seems that your daughter is way smarter than you, the parent. I wish her well, good health, and lifelong happiness."

The mum's feeling that her daughter was 'less than' and needing to 'make up for it'.

"My daughter's 42 and chose not to have children. Uh, no...I never, ever thought about making more babies to 'compensate.'"

And finally, the disgust that the mum was explaining her attitude in terms of being a Gen X:

"Giving Gen X a bad name," said one, and another added, "[No], we're like, please don't have kids if you're not flipping ready, even if that's never."

As a Gen X parent myself, I would like to say to this mum: "Please disassociate yourself from us immediately!"
