'My husband told me my school pick-up outfit was inappropriate’

The mum’s outfit divided TikTok, with some furious she let her husband dictate her wardrobe, and others who believed she was showing far too much skin.

When mum-of-two Elaine chose her outfit for the day she thought it was perfectly respectable for summer attire.

But her husband thought differently...

“I was going to pick up my kid from school and my husband told me this outfit was inappropriate,” she said in a TikTok.

Elaine showed off a summery pink two-piece set that bore her shoulders and her midriff above the high waist of her shorts.

She then changed into a long black dress with long sleeves and checked with her live-in member of the fashion police.

“Babe, I changed my outfit,” she told her husband. “What do you think?”

TikTok says man should dictate what wife wears

To her husband, the new outfit was a winner, but her followers thought the exchange was a symptom of a massive problem in the couple’s relationship.

Many commenters weighed in on whether Elaine’s husband had any business telling his wife what she should wear.

“No man tells me what to wear!” one person declared.

“The first one was cute. Nothing showing inappropriately. Very summery,” another agreed.

“You should have worn whatever you wanted,” a third person

One woman she admitted that she would have more fun with her husband’s remark.

“Hahaha I’m the worst, I would have changed into a more skimpy one… maybe that’s why I have two failed marriages,” she joked.

“I’m sorry to say this, but I agree with your husband"

Although many people said Elaine should wear what she liked, there were also plenty who agreed with her husband.

“I’m sorry to say this, but I agree with your husband. It showed too much skin. It was very cute though,” one person said.

“You’re gorg obvs. But I do think it’s inappropriate for school. That said, each to their own. Do you,” another said playing devil's advocate.

“I agree with the husband. There’s a time and place for the first one,” a third person added.

Another person said the footage was a sign of a strong partnership.

“She respects her husband’s opinion so she changed. Obviously she knew he would say something that’s why the video was made."
