Mum's 'grubby' find after her baby’s bottle rolled under a Kmart shelf

"It was so gross, one of the grossest things I’ve ever seen. Just foul," she said.

A Sydney mum was recently wandering her local Kmart store with her baby when she made an unsettling discovery.

While retrieving her daughter's bottle, which she had dropped and it had rolled under some shelves, she stumbled upon the confronting find.

"I was so shocked, most definitely the last thing I expected to see," the anonymous mum told 7NEWS.com.au.

"Just foul"

"I was pushing my daughter’s pram through the toys aisle, and she dropped her bottle on the floor, and it went under some shelves," she recalled.

And after getting on her hands and knees, that's when she saw it.

"I've never seen such filth. There were so many toys and bits of food - and just so much dirt and junk.

"It was so gross, one of the grossest things I’ve ever seen. Just foul."

In the photos, considerable rubbish and debris, including a football, empty plastic packaging, and magazines, can be seen on the floor under the shelves.

After witnessing the mess, the mum said she decided to throw away her baby's bottle, as "even washing it wouldn't have been enough."

"Who knows what else is crawling around there at night, with all that rubbish hiding in the store," she pointed out.

"Is that all?"

Over on social media, people thought the mum was overreacting.

"She was shocked to find a mess!!!" one comment drenched in sarcasm read.

Another person said: "I was expecting she found a leg or another body part."

"Sheesh, is that all?" someone else asked.

"What the hell was she expecting to find under the shelves? Some common sense would tell you they never clean under them," another commenter chimed in.

"Creates a job for someone else"

But others agreed with the mum that it was gross and said they would be shocked to learn that the stores were secretly that dirty, too.

"It's time for seasonal cleaning; it doesn't take a long time for a cleaner to sweep under the shelves," said one.

"Cleaners need to do their job!" another woman claimed.

"That’s where things go when people knock them off the shelf and don’t bother to pick them back up. They're so lazy, and it just creates a job for someone else," another lamented.
