Mum's genius milk bottle hack to stop messy breakfast goes viral

No more split milk to cry over!

Easy budget hacks to save your family $$$

If you’ve got kids like mine, most of the milk carton ends up on the kitchen floor, right?

But one savvy mum managed to wow the internet with her clever trick to avoid milk spillages where she removed the top of her milk bottle and added a tomato sauce lid.

Kate Anderson said she discovered the hack by chance. “It was only by chance that it worked really, I was washing out all the bottles ready for recycling and I was distracted and put the sauce bottle lid on the milk bottle and that’s when it hit me... can I save entire bottles of milk?” she told Kidspot.

So, I put the lid on a new bottle of milk and poured and it was so controlled I got my 7-year-old to give it a go, and now we don’t have spilt bottles of milk I’m rushing to clean up before school and work.

“I really thought I was the only one who didn’t know this, but posted it just in case others didn’t know. I wasn’t expecting anything from it. My kids love it they think they are so grown up,” she adds.

“Such a great tip!”

Shared by Happy Mum Happy Child the post read: “Fun fact: Your tomato sauce lid will fit on the milk bottle. Perfect for kids who want to do it themselves but often spill it.”

The post was promptly applauded with many commenting on how clever the idea is.

“That's such a great tip! For me as much as the independent toddler!” said one.

“This is genius!” said one more.

“This is awesome! Thanks for sharing,” another mum wrote.

Another suggested filling the milk bottle with pancake batter. “Time to fill the milk bottle up with pancake batter, and kids can help making them,” they chimed in.

Stop messy spills

Previously a mum shared another spill-proof hack where she showed how turning the straw around in a boost juice can stop messy spills.

“If you flip the straw around the opposite way, so the thick part is at the bottom and then they can’t pull the straw out,” she wrote on the Cookie Clan Blog.

Parents were so impressed with the simple hack, which can be applied to any bendy straw similar to the ones you get at the popular juice retailer.

“Bloody genius,” one fan wrote.

“I’m all for less mess,” another chimed in.

While she knew it was nifty idea, the mum was overwhelmed with the response from other parents who struggle with juice and children in public.

“The amount of people that have the same issue of the kiddies pulling the straw out and then getting it everywhere is crazy. Simple hack that is a game-changer,” she gushed.
