South Australia may be known for its wine but it turns out the state boasts some of the best spirits around, too.
Seven South Australian producers have either won or been finalists across multiple categories in the Dan Murphy’s 2024 Decoded Spirits Awards.
The state absolutely dominated in the Australian gin category, with Kangaroo Island Spirits Wild Gin taking the top spot and two other producers named finalists in the section.
A panel of 13 judges tried more than 450 spirits across 19 categories over two days in the process of reaching their decision.
Dan Murphy’s Head of Spirits Sarah Hall said the awards were about celebrating excellence as well as taking out the guesswork for customers.
“We are incredibly lucky to have some of the best producers in the industry right at our doorstep,” she said.
“Australian producers demonstrate not only a high level of skill and tenacity but also creativity relying on natural products from our diverse landscape.”
