SA fashion has made an un-fore-gettable impression on the wives of Australian LIV Golf superstars Cameron Smith and Matt Jones.
Americans Shanel Smith and Melissa Jones are among a group of 15 partners who will be dressed throughout the tournament by local brands including Aston Studio and Acler at the Sofitel Adelaide’s Styling Suite.
Shanel, who tied the knot with Cameron in Brisbane in December, said she’s in love with the local style.
“Every time I come to Australia, I pack a whole bag of Australian clothes I can’t get in the US,” said the chiropractor from Florida.
“All my nice things are from Australian designers, my wedding dress was an Australian designer. I just love the quality.”
A former pageant queen in the US, Melissa said it has been an “amazing experience”.
“I’ve been pampered, it’s so nice to get off a long flight... and to be so welcomed. The designers are wonderful, they’ve got fabulous styles. It’s been a really great time,” said Melissa, whose husband Matt plays alongside Smith on the Ripper GC team.
Suzanne Gallard, Aston Studio creative director, helped dress the partners and said LIV Golf Adelaide put SA businesses on the global stage.
“We can’t wait to see the wives of the players in our styles at The Grange and as they continue on the international LIV circuit,” she said.
Cole Tsakmakis, Coil Hair Studio owner, said they loved welcoming the wives to Adelaide, and giving them some “Aussie glam”.
Shanel and Melissa both missed last year’s inaugural LIV Golf Adelaide event, and made sure they didn’t make the same mistake in 2024.
“I didn’t come last year. This has been the one I’ve been most excited about,” Shanel said.
“The support has been really special for the Australian team. I love Australia, it’s my second home already. I love Australian people the most. I love everyone’s demeanour and passion.”
