Jetstar will be the first low-cost carrier to offer direct flights - which will run three times a week, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays - between the Gold Coast and Bali, making the voyage to the island of the gods easier and cheaper for Gold Coast residents.
The new route will add more than 58,000 low fare seats for Aussies to Bali each year and will be operated on two of the newest aircraft in Jetstar's fleet, the Airbus A320neo.
Jetstar is also launching new flights from the Gold Coast to Hamilton and Dunedin in New Zealand, and Darwin in the NT, in June.
To celebrate the Bali route, Jetstar is having a 72-hour sale, with one way fares from Gold Coast to Bali (Denpasar) available from midday today from $199.
Jetstar Group CEO, Stephanie Tully, said Bali is still the number one destination for Jetstar customers, saying the airline is stoked to provide passengers with a budget connection between the Gold Coast and Bali.
“Bali has always been Jetstar’s most popular international destination and it’s not hard to see why with its beautiful beaches and resorts, delicious food, friendly locals, affordability, and proximity to Australia,” she said.
Queensland Airports Limited CEO, Amelia Evans, said Bali was very popular with Gold Coast locals, revealing more than 130,000 passengers have travelled between the two destinations in the last two years.
“This is a huge win for our region, making Bali more accessible and providing more options for locals looking to book their next getaway!”

Despite struggling with over tourism in recent years, Bali remains a constant source of fascination for Aussies.
From dancing on tables at Mexicola to surfing the Racetrack section at Uluwatu (to checking out the coolest new cocktail bars in Canggu and Pererenan), Bali is constantly evolving and alluring new generations of Aussie travellers - even if it doesn't look quite like it did in 1980.
