“I remain focussed on recovery”
In a personal statement to X, Princess Kate has opened up with an update on her battle with cancer, stating that she is now in remission.
In the statement, she also confirmed that she was undergoing treatment at the renowned Royal Marsden Hospital in London, and that she will be joining Prince William as a patron of the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust - a role also previously held by the late Princess Diana.
“I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you to The Royal Marsden for looking after me so well during the past year,” she said in the post.
“My heartfelt thanks goes to all those who have quietly walked alongside William and me as we have navigated everything.
“We couldn’t have asked for more. The care and advice we have received throughout my time as a patient has been exceptional.

“In my new role as Joint Patron of The Royal Marsden, my hope is, that by supporting groundbreaking research and clinical excellence, as well as promoting patient and family wellbeing, we might save many more lives, and transform the experience of all those impacted by cancer.
“It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focussed on recovery. As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support. C”
Kate first announced in March last year that she was undergoing treatment for cancer, and completed chemotherapy treatment in September.
An emotional hospital visit
Kate’s statement on social media came along with an image from her hour-long visit to The Royal Marsden Hospital - the first hospital in the world dedicated to the study and treatment of cancer.
As part of the visit, Kate not only met and spoke to healthcare professionals, but also patients going through similar treatments to what she did.
The visit was Kate’s first solo engagement since December 2023 - shortly before she fell ill.
