'It looks ransacked': Photo of trashed TK Maxx store outrages Aussies

"I was there today and was appalled at the customers just dumping stuff on the ground!" said a local.

Woman on TikTok reveals hidden TK Maxx codes

In a shocking post that's left Aussie shoppers dismayed, a TK Maxx store in Broadmeadows, Victoria, has come under scrutiny for being left in an appalling condition.

Known for its value and variety of brands, the recent state of the store paints a drastically different picture — one of neglect and disorder.

"I try to be empathetic to workers, especially as a person who has been in retail for over a decade. But the last three times I’ve been to the Broadmeadows store it’s been like this or worse," began a post by a local in the TK Maxx Australia Facebook group.

During their last three visits, they encountered aisles filled with clothing and other items scattered on the floors, haphazardly placed items, and discarded coffee and drink cups littering the shelves.

"I always see staff too, quite a large number of them, and I don’t experience this at any of my other local stores," the customer continued, adding, "I don’t expect perfection but I’d like to go into a store that’s mostly clean and tidy."

He concluded his post by asking the group, "Are anyone else’s locals like this and am I being too harsh?"

"Absolute pigsty"

And it seems this isn't an isolated incident. People flocked to the comments to share their equal dismay and similar occurrences.

"It’s like shoppers are feral there and workers have given up. I love TK but lately refuse to go to the Broadmeadows store because of the same experience," remarked one woman. "Some parents think it’s a daycare centre and let their kids roam and open packages," she added.

"Customers are downright scumbags," exclaimed someone else. "As a consumer, it's our right to a clean and tidy shopping experience."

"This is an absolute pigsty. Disgusting," claimed one member.

"I was there today and was appalled at the customers just dumping stuff on the ground!" said another local.

"I swear every time I go there it looks ransacked," a different woman wrote.

Then this former TK Maxx worker shed some light on the issue, saying: "I used to be an employee and they have this term called 'maintenance' and a few staff during their shift will be assigned to it and it means they walk around the store their whole shift and pick up any items on the floor or in the wrong spot. So either they are low on staff or clearly just don’t have the right management…"

It's not the only bargain store to be left in this state recently

It comes after another Facebook group blew up over the same issue.

Over on the Kmart Hacks and Decor group, a woman also shared a similar scene that left her shocked on a recent shopping trip.

"I got a huge shock when shopping at Kmart while on an interstate holiday. My local Kmarts are always relatively neat and tidy," a woman wrote.

There are at least 50 pairs of shoes in a pile on the floor, clothes tossed in the wrong department, rugs taken off shelves and not put back properly, and bikinis strewn up and down the aisles.

She added in the caption: "I feel so sorry for the poor staff members who have to clean up after these messy shoppers."

Cleary customers are getting lazy and have less and less respect for retail workers. It's time to do better, folks.
