Those at the stunning wedding of Kate Taeuber and Reece Turner could have been forgiven for doing a double – or rather, triple – take as the beaming bride walked down the aisle.
The identical triplet’s sisters and fellow journalists, Amy and Sophie Taeuber – who star alongside Kate in their own hit podcast series, Outspoken, which has six million downloads, were her maids-of-honour.
“Amy and Sophie gave a hilarious speech … they made jokes about what it’s like dating a triplet,” Kate laughs.
“Sophie said, ‘Dating triplets is very unique. Our loyalties to one another change by the hour, if not the minute; one minute we’re all best friends, the next minute two of us have ganged up on each other … and the next minute we’re all headed to Marion shopping centre for chai lattes with Mum.
“So it’s all very confusing and very difficult for our partners to keep up with.”
While, Kate says, Amy cheekily reminded the groom and wedding guests, the trio of sisters told each other everything.
“Amy added, ‘We also have no secrets, before we met Reece, we knew everything about him … not anything over the top, just the important things like blood type, passport number, every girl (he’d) ever spoken to … basically, what we’re saying is you’re not just stuck with Kate, Reece, you’re also stuck with us now.”
The groom’s brother and best man, Ryan Turner, also lightheartedly embraced the triplet theme while referring to Reece’s role as general manager of the professional women’s basketball team, the Adelaide Lightning.
“(He joked) that in Reece’s field of work it’s ‘all about finding the best team and today he’s got three for the price of one’,” Kate recalls.
The couple, who were married by celebrant Kate Browne at Verdun’s refined Maximilian’s Restaurant in front of 98 guests, met almost six years ago while working for the Adelaide 36ers.
Along with her treasured sisters, Kate was attended by sister-in-law Pippa Phillips and Olwyn Mackay-Trenouth as bridesmaids and Ryan was joined by groomsmen Sebastian Wise, Tom Buckley and Steve Miles.
The couple’s much-loved golden retrievers completed the bridal party with Sunny in pink as the flower girl and Shadow dapper in black as the page boy.
Kate, 33, is daughter of Linda and Hugh Taeuber, of Colonel Light Gardens, and Reece, is the son of Bev and David Turner, of Happy Valley.
She is the first of the triplets to marry, wearing a gorgeous Eva gown by designer Amaline Vitale, purchased from Unley’s The Bride Lab.
“My dad walked me down the aisle and said, ‘I felt extremely proud … it was the first time I have done it but I saw it as a good first experience, as I still have the same role to play two more times,” Kate says.
“Amy and Sophie are both getting married in early 2024, so our wedding kickstarted the wedding season in our families – Reece’s brother is getting married on the 31st of March 2023.
“Funnily, enough my sisters both got engaged on Christmas Eve 2021 … it wasn’t planned, their partners just didn’t think to tell each other they had the same idea, so it ended up being a pretty funny coincidence.
“My sisters’ rings are almost identical too.”
