How much can Adelaide’s top social media influencers earn for a single post?

When you think of the word “influencer”, many things may spring to mind.

Often it’s images of vapid wannabes posting relentless selfies, or D-grade reality TV personalities, gasping for an invite to the opening of a leg wound.

But of course, Adelaide being Adelaide, we take on the influencer world a little differently.

An alpaca named Alfie and a locally based Brussels Griffon named Squid have found themselves among the upper echelons of Adelaide’s most influential Instagram stars and their online clout means some of them have serious earning potential.

According to the website Influencer Marketing Hub, which allows users to calculate their earning potential based on the size of their Instagram audience and their “engagement rate”, Squid and Alfie could both be raking in almost $2000 every time their owners post.

The eye-watering amount puts Squid and Alfie well above the likes of Miss Universe Australia 2020 Maria Thattil, who is said to make between $890 to nearly $1500 per post.

Squid and Alfie’s nearest local competitors come from the likes of Magill-based mother and vlogger Simply Rhaze who has a massed a huge following of well over a million on YouTube. Over in Insta land however, a snap of Razel and her young family could return anywhere between $911.25- $1518.75 per post.

Meanwhile, local gamer and content creator JoshDub can command almost $4000 per post.

Local public relations queen Maree Hopgood said the local influencer landscape had grown over the past few years.

“Influencers can be engaged for a number of reasons, such as to create content that a brand can then utilise, for example across its own social media platforms, or to reach the influencer’s audience directly by having them post about the product/service/experience/message,” Hopgood said.

“Often the influencer will have a media kit or set rate dependent on their follower count, reach and deliverables already supplied by them or their agent, but it also depends on the client’s budget and objectives.”

Over east, Melbourne WAGS like Bec Judd can rake in up to $5500 while Nadia Bartel – who has bounced back on social media after her white powder snorting scandal – makes about $3830 per Instagram post.
