Super Netball’s Tippah Dwan on fast moves and shooting goals
Super Netball star Tippah Dwan’s was on a path less travelled as a late bloomer, now she’s busy making up for lost time.

Don't miss out on the headlines from Home. Followed categories will be added to My News.
Who: Adelaide Thunderbirds netballer Tippah Dwan.
Where: A modern townhouse with flatmate Courtney and her groodle Chase.
Favourite thing: We have the most comfortable couch where we can watch our favourite shows and cuddle with Chase.
Inspiration: Being a Queenslander, my interior style has turned to a more coastal/minimalistic approach.
Home is: A place for me to relax and wind down after a long day of training and studying. I love coming home, getting comfortable and doing some recovery for my body.
These days most budding netballers start out at age six or seven, gathering skills in Net Set programs around the country.
Netballer Tippah Dwan was more of a late starter and it wasn’t until she was age 12 and living in Shanghai, China, that she even took to a netball court.
“We moved around a lot with Dad’s work and I started playing when we were in Shanghai,” she says.
Now 22, Tippah, who hails from St Lucia in Brisbane, has moved out of home for the first time after being recruited by the Adelaide Thunderbirds to play in the Suncorp Super Netball league.
The goal attack/goal shooter, whose talent is with long distance shots, was invited to be a training partner with the Queensland Firebirds while still in Year 12, and played with the team until last year.
As a teen she aspired to be like her hero Nat Medhurst.
“My favourite netballer was Nat Medhurst, I watched her play as a Diamond and was always so amazed by her talent,” she says.
“I love being around such incredible athletes that I can also call some of my closest friends, but also love the competitiveness and fun that comes with it.
“It has been such an easy transition into the Adelaide Thunderbirds side, the girls in the team have been so welcoming and I’ve made so many memories here already.”
And her top tip for budding goal shooters?
“My top tip would be to find a rhythm and technique that suits you and practice as much as you can,” she says.
While she’s settled comfortably into a new life in Adelaide, her training and game schedule, as well as coaching school netball and studying a Bachelor of Business at QUT doesn’t leave much time left over.
Luckily, travelling interstate for games allows her to catch up with family in Brisbane and partner Western Bulldogs’ player Josh Dunkley in Melbourne.

It was so special to be able to debut for the Thunderbirds this year, this just reminds me of how proud I am to play with such an amazing group of girls.

This cute set is from a shop down in Henley Beach, just something I bought that reminds me of moving out of home for the first time.
SCORPIO FRAME
This was a gift from a small business called Created By Zoe. She messaged me on Instagram and said she would send me it. I just love the personalisation and how simple it is.
REPLICA PERFUME
This is my go to, everyday scent that I am in love with right now. I get so many compliments on it!
INDOOR GREENERY
My first plant that I bought in Adelaide, it is just so easy to look after and brightens up my bedroom. We have many plants in our house which I think makes our space feel light and natural.
