One woman’s “clever” idea with a viral Kmart item is taking social media by storm.
The Scalloped Circular Mirror is part of Aussie retailer Kmart’s 2023 home decor collection – and was sold out online when it garnered viral status in December last year.
The 55cm diameter mirror retails for $35, much cheaper than similar designer items which can retail for more than $500.
Despite only recently hitting Kmart shelves, social media users have been sharing their excitement over the product, which is still available to purchase in store.
But one woman has taken it to a new level by creating a mural out of the viral item.
“When I saw the new wavy mirror, I just knew I had to make a mural out of it! Really completes this space,” the woman said, posting pictures of her work to a Facebook group about home hacks and decor using Kmart products.
The woman centred the scallop mirror in the middled of the wall, above a set of cupboards with cubby holes for each family member’s belongings.
Around the mirror, she painted grey, pink and a pastel orange in the same shape of the mirror.
In the comments, she explained: “They dried very quickly, like 10 minutes. First I traced around the mirror with pencil.
“Then took the mirror down and coloured in that space with the brown. Then followed the pattern further out.
“I made sure to go carefully around the edges then painted in the rest. It was actually not too difficult, you just need to go slow and steady.”
Social media users fawned over the design, with many complimenting the woman’s idea.
“Looks fantastic,” one social media user commented on the woman’s photo of her work.
Another said: “Gosh I’d love to do this in the bedroom I have for my grandchildren. But I really don’t think I’d manage the perfect outer circles.”
Another added: “Love it ur very clever.”
