OPRAH has released her annual list of ‘Favourite Things’. For those unfamiliar with this famous list, think of it as a fancy Oprah-approved Christmas gift guide.

This year’s list features 72 overpriced luxury items that Oprah encourages very wealthy people to give to their very wealthy friends and family during the “holiday season”.

According to her website, Oprah herself has “tasted, tested, sniffed, snuggled, brewed, steeped, read, shared and dared” her way through hoards of upmarket goods and selected her favourites to share with us all.

Some are stupid, some are weird and most are unnecessary. Here are our favourites.

Oprah’s review: “These sleek sheepskin leather gloves with Thinsulate lining and puffy cuffs are not only warm and practical, but they also kick your winter look up a notch. Bonus: You don’t have to take them off to tap your touch screen.”

Oprah’s review: “I use this face potion — infused with crushed pearls — and get absolutely luminous results. A primer, highlighter and anti-aging cream in one, the velvety multitasker (by one of my favorite cosmetics makers, Edward Bess) will get you glowing.” — Oprah

Happy Holiday Loaf. Price: $175

Oprah’s review: “Now this is what I call a statement piece: a 15-pound loaf of tasty rustic, thick-crusted sourdough bread that’s an astounding 60cm in diameter. Put it out for your holiday party and toast the leftovers the morning after. And after. And after.”

Foot Cream and Sock Gift Set. Price: $168

Oprah’s review: “Gloria L Williams (aka the Footnanny) used to work at the Harpo spa in Chicago, and her foot cream is fantastic. I think it penetrates best if you slather it on and wear socks so the satiny concoction can soften your skin overnight. She created this cream-and-sock set for you.”

Waterproof Suede Slippers. Price: $140

Oprah’s review: “It’s no secret that I’m crazy about how cushiony Uggs feel on my feet. I’m really into this latest design, which has a cozy wool cuff you can wear up or down. With a waterproof suede exterior and molded rubber outsole, it’ll get you through winter, indoors and out.”

365 Gathered Truths Box. Price: $99

Oprah’s review: “Here’s a boxful of gathered truths printed on beautiful handmade paper. I like to read as many as I can while I’m waiting five minutes for my chai to steep. If you get only one of my Favorite Things this year, I’d want this to be it.”
