It can be frustrating scrubbing your bathroom’s soap scum and grime to no avail, but one mum has shared a hack that is getting a lot of attention online.
One mum took to the popular Mums Who Clean to share that she used tomato sauce to help get those stubborn stains off.
Posting in the group, a woman thanked a member who’d previously posted about the hack – which simply involves applying tomato sauce around the ring of the sink drain, and leaving it there to work its high-acidic magic, KidSpot reported.
“I used ketchup and left on for 11 hours,” the mum wrote.
“Scrubbed and then just rinsed off.”

She added impressive before and after photos, which attracted hundreds of likes and comments.
“I tried around my taps and it got stubborn grime off that I couldn’t budge. Tomato sauce for the win!”, one member gushed.
“Clean as a whistle,” wrote another. “I was totally gobsmacked. My arthritic hands are forever grateful.”
‘”I left mine for three hours,” another added. “Worked so well.”
It was generally accepted in the group that the inexpensive and non-toxic hack worked because tomatoes are acidic – but especially in the form of supermarket tomato sauce.
Admittedly, some mums were ‘concerned’ about the hack.
“If I left tomato sauce on my sink for 11 hours, my child would 100 per cent lick it,” one laughed.
Another joked, “I’m pretty sure one of my kids would dip their food in it.”
While the hack was met with enthusiasm – and even gratitude by some social media users, frustrated with their bathroom grime – others questioned the use of “half a bottle” of sauce when ready-made products could do the trick.
“Bar Keepers Friend or even Jif”, one suggested, to which another replied, “But clearly so is this! And less chemicals.”
And again, one asked, “Is it not easier to use Jif and it be sparkly clean in just a few minutes,” and was met with, “Way to go reducing your toxin load in your home!”
One member shared, “This is how I clean my little brass ring holder … it comes up nice and shiny!”
Others also revealed the hack works on faucets and sink taps.
Then there was the woman who swore by using tomato sauce … in her hair.
“Works for when blonde hair goes that green colour from pool chlorine. I tried it and it works!”
Two other members agreed with this tip, so it sounds like it’s worth a shot!
