MEN in their 20s can be disgusting, wild beasts. They have just been released from the constant watchful eye of their mother and have been let out into the world to fend for themselves.

The results can be disturbing at best, with a lack of cleaning skills and the inability to wash their clothes a common problem.

Michael began documenting the “naked, unguarded honesty” of his friends’ apartments.

He tells news.com.au he wanted to capture a “fleeting window in a man’s life” between leaving the family home but before a woman touches his living space, often dramatically changing it.

“Being a bachelor means not having expectations put on you by someone else, so his living space often dramatically changes when he lives with a woman. As a rule, the woman’s aesthetic wins, and that’s usually a good thing,” he said.

By invading the privacy of many bachelors, his photos tell a story of a time that generally doesn’t last for long — but is enjoyable for the male species. A time when they have ultimate freedom and they never have to do the dishes.
