THEY met cheering on their sports star husbands, but these WAGs have a passion for something other than footy.
Lana Taylor, Bonnie Hindmarsh and Erin Cayless would spend their time on the sidelines, exchanging tips about paint colours, carpet samples and new bathrooms while husbands Jason, Nathan and Nathan ran around for the Parramatta Eels.
The trio who have eight children between them, all aged nine years and under, recently quit their corporate jobs to start their own business, Three Birds Renovations.
They are now buying and transforming dated suburban homes in Sydney’s Hills district into glamour residences for sale.
“We don’t necessarily make the cheapest or easiest choices,’’ said Lana, a former marketing manager.
“We have even moved a bedroom wall 30cm, which a lot of renovators couldn’t be bothered doing.
“We are not renovating for maximum profit but a house that we would each love to live in.”
Their husbands couldn’t be happier – even pitching in on the odd job.
“They love that we are working together and we are our own bosses, and they all have a passion in some way for real estate, so they have enjoyed seeing the transformation as well,” Lana said.
They helped to lay the turf on their wives’ second project at 26 Ambleside Drive, Castle Hill, which has been listed onto the market through Century 21.
The once blonde brick home, which was fitted with electric roller shutters on every window, has become completely unrecognisable in just six weeks.
Bonnie, who is their design guru, has made the home look like it belongs in the Hamptons.
Meanwhile, Lana and Erin were responsible for co-ordinating and project managing the overhaul.
Already, the finished home has attracted attention of magazines wanting to feature it in editorials.
“A home in The Hills doesn’t normally get that kind of attention,’’ Lana said. “This is a market that is on the up and people in The Hills want luxury.
“They want to have things you would find in the city and not some stock standard renovation.’’
The trio believes a quick turnaround will protect them from potential financial loss.
“There is not enough time for it to really slump before we sell or skyrocket and it drive our value up.
“So we feel it is kind of in our hands.”
