FIREFIGHTERS were stunned to turn up to a house fire and see a cat being rescued from the burning building by Batman and Captain America.
WCHS reports that the pair, usually known as John Buckland (Batman) and Troy Marcum (Captain America), dress up for events where they teach positive lessons to children.
They were at one of these events in Milton, West Virginia, when they saw smoke coming from a nearby house.
Luckily Mr Buckland used to be a firefighter before he started his "Hero 4 Higher" business, including in the military while stationed in Iraq.
"He (Captain America) breaks out the window," Mr Buckland said. "The smokes lets out and as I can start to see I reach down and grab something furry!"
The superheroes grabbed the cat and brought it out of the burning building.
Mr Buckland said it was a lucky escape.
"I just wonder what the cat was thinking," he said. "I'm glad no one was inside."
