Hindmarsh MP Mark Butler marries journalist Daniela Ritorto

Media and political identities from around the country have gathered in Adelaide for a Labor frontbencher and journalist’s wedding.

Political and media identities have gathered in Adelaide for the wedding of federal Labor frontbencher Mark Butler and journalist Daniela Ritorto.

The Hindmarsh MP and former BBC presenter were married on Saturday at their western suburbs home in a family ceremony, conducted by celebrant and former journalist Lucy Hood – the state ALP candidate for Adelaide.

DJ Driller Jet Armstrong entertained 175 guests at the wedding reception at Plant 4 Bowden.

The reception MCs were Opposition Senate Leader Penny Wong and SAFM breakfast radio co-host Rebecca Morse – Ms Ritorto’s friend since the pair worked at the ABC in the early 2000s.

Other guests included: federal Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese, state Labor leader Peter Malinauskas, former premier Jay Weatherill, ABC journalists Nick and Jessica Harmsen, former Advertiser journalists Annabel Crabb, Phil Coorey and Laura Chalmers, with husband and Labor frontbencher Jim Chalmers.

Ms Ritorto’s dress was by Acler, whose designers are her sister, Julia Ritorto, and Kathryn Forth.

Mr Butler, a former ALP national president, said the pair’s first date had been in October, 2018
