Melbourne mum reveals insane 54kg weight loss transformation

An Australian mum is unrecognisable after dropping an incredible 54kg and five dress sizes in an insane “glow up”.

The stigma surrounding weight loss surgery

A woman has unveiled her stunning $38,000 ‘mummy makeover’ that saw her lose an incredible 54kg and five dress sizes.

In August 2023, Kimmie Fox reached her heaviest weight of 125kg, while her wardrobe was full of size 22 clothes.

The now 30-year-old Melbourne woman said the weight just crept up on her in 2019 as she began focusing on launching her own business and taking care of her three sons.

But now she has taken her life back for good after undergoing an epic $38,000 makeover that has left her unrecognisable to the person she was just a few years ago.

“Before my weight gain, I’d always maintained a slim build and rarely exceeded a size 12,” Ms Fox told news.com.au.

“But around 2019, I became really focused on building a successful business and caring for my family that I totally lost sight of my own needs,” she said.

“I poured everything into that, but in giving so much to others. I stopped giving to myself.

“My weight crept up on me as I neglected my own self-care.”

During that point in her life, Ms Fox said she used food as an emotional crutch and would binge eat most days of the week.

“Food filled a void in my life and I was eating so much junk,” she said.

“It became my crutch in moments of stress and overwhelm. Late nights would end with me snacking mindlessly in front of the TV.

“Portion control was my greatest struggle, I never felt satisfied. Eating became a coping mechanism for dealing with all the chaos.”

Ms Fox – who founded companies Bombshell Beauty Academy, The Luxe Fox, and Hero Blade – said she got to a point where she felt she had “tried everything” and was at a total loss at how to change her life.

She suffers from extreme Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) which notoriously makes it extremely difficult for women to lose weight.

After speaking about her options with her doctor, she decided to go under the knife and have gastric sleeve surgery in a bid to reclaim her life.

“I realised I couldn’t keep living that way, I needed something to change,” she said.

“I had tried everything. All the diets, pills, exercise routines. Nothing worked.

“My health was deteriorating. At that point, it wasn’t just about my weight, it was about saving my life.

“I ended up breaking down to my doctor and after discussing my options, I chose gastric sleeve surgery, knowing this was a chance to get my life back.

“My boys were my biggest motivation. They deserved to see a mother who valued herself and could overcome life’s challenges.”

The surgery allowed Ms Fox to take back control of her life, while she also committed to a healthier lifestyle which allowed her to drop the weight.

“I rebuilt my habits from the ground up, focusing on balanced nutrition and consistent exercise,” she said.

“Over the past year, I’ve not only shed fat but also built muscle, creating a sustainable lifestyle that prioritises my physical and mental wellbeing.

“This wasn’t just about losing weight, it was about becoming the strongest, healthiest version of myself.”

In addition to the $5,000 gastric sleeve surgery, she has also undergone a $15,000 breast augmentation and breast lift in Thailand.

To add to her makeover, she also had $10,000 veneers done, while she said she also spends around $4,200 a year on her hair and $4,000 on Botox and injectables.

Her entire makeover has set her back more than $38,000 but Ms Fox said it was the best money she has ever spent.

She now has the body of her dreams and feels more confident than ever in her brand new 71kg, size 8-10 frame.

Ms Fox said people do not recognise her after her incredible glow-up and after going through a divorce during this period, she is ready for the next chapter of her life.

“I’m absolutely thrilled with the outcome of my procedures,” she said.

“The care and expertise I received throughout the process were exceptional, and the results have truly exceeded my expectations.

“This decision has been a major step in embracing and enhancing my confidence and self-image.

“Losing weight has been a journey of rediscovery. I’ve regained my confidence and embraced the person I’ve always wanted to be.

“Today, I feel empowered, vibrant, and ready to embrace every opportunity that comes my way.

“People do not recognise me, it has been a dramatic change on both the outside and the inside.

“I went through my divorce during this journey too so have come out the other side a new version of myself ready to focus on me.”

Ms Fox revealed her transformation has also helped her mental health soar and she is able to deal with her emotions much more clearly.

“I’ve since learned that true nourishment comes not just from what is on your plate, but also from how you care for yourself emotionally,” she said.

“The challenges I’ve faced over the past 18 months have been pivotal in shaping my emotional intelligence.

“Navigating significant personal and professional hurdles has taught me the importance of self-awareness, resilience, and empathy.

“I’ve learned to approach difficulties with a more measured perspective, to process emotions constructively, and to communicate with greater clarity and compassion.

“These experiences have not only strengthened my relationships but also deepened my understanding of myself and others, allowing me to lead with confidence and authenticity.”
