New cases of COVID in NSW, Sydney CBD cluster grows

Health authorities have issued new alerts for a growing list of NSW venues including a supermarket, gym and four train trips.

NSW Health has issued new virus alerts for locations across Sydney CBD, Hornsby, Willoughby and the Central Coast after the state recorded another two COVID-19 cases on Thursday.

One of the cases worked at the David Jones food court on Elizabeth St, while the second new case travelled on four trains between Sydney and the Central Coast on Monday and Tuesday.

People who attended Harris Farm in Willoughby on Saturday are also being asked to watch for symptoms after a confirmed case went there between 4pm and 5pm that day.

There is also a new alert for PRP Diagnostic Imaging in Hornsby for Monday between 10am and 11.15am.

It comes as the Sydney CBD coronavirus cluster continued to grow, with at least five of Thursday’s new cases linked to the area.

Three attended the City Tattersalls Club gym, while contact tracers are hunting down patrons of two Fitness First clubs.

“Anyone who attended City Tattersalls gym between 8am and 2pm on 19, 21 or 23 August is a close contact and must get tested for COVID-19 and isolate at home for 14 days,” deputy chief health officer Jeremy McAnulty said.

“Other members of City Tattersalls should get tested if they have even the mildest symptoms.”

NSW Health is also working to contact all known attendees of the Hunters Hill Bowling Club indoor dining room on August 23 from 12pm to 2pm.

These people are considered close contacts of a case and must be tested and self-isolate for 14 days – regardless of the result of their test.

Those who attended the dining room at the Hunters Hill Bowling Club on August 23 from 12pm to 2pm should get tested for coronavirus and isolate for 14 days, even if their test comes back negative.

Anyone who has visited the following locations should monitor for symptoms and be tested immediately if they develop:

• 4 Pines Manly Brew Bar The Esplanade – August 23 from 3.30pm to 5pm
• Magpies Waitara restaurant – August 24 from 11.30am to 1:15pm
• Destro’s Pharmacy in Drummoyne – August 22 from 11.20am to 11.40am
• Fitness First Balgowlah – August 23 from 9am to 12pm
  
• Fitness First Bond St – August 20 from 12pm to 4.30pm and August 21
• The gaming areas of City Tattersalls - August 24
  
• PRP Diagnostic Imaging in Hornsby - August 24 from 10am to 11.15am
  
• Harris Farm in Willoughby - August 22 from 4pm to 5pm
  

The train rides that have had warnings issued about them are:

• August 24 - Sydney-bound train, departing Woy Woy station at 6.31am, arriving Wynyard station at 7.50am, and northbound train, departing Town Hall station at 5.31pm, arriving Woy Woy station at 6.54pm
• August 25 - Sydney-bound train, departing Woy Woy station at 6.31am, arriving Gordon station at 7.21am, and northbound train, departing Hornsby station at 7.53am, arriving Woy Woy station at 8.28am

“While case numbers have remained low in the past two weeks, the virus continues to circulate in the community and we must all be vigilant,” Dr McAnulty said.

“It is vital that high rates of testing continue in order to find the source of the cases still under investigation and to identify and stop further spread of the virus.”

There are 74 cases of COVID-19 being treated by NSW Health. Of those, 6 are in intensive care and 4 are ventilated.
