A woman was left shocked when she returned home from work to find a passive aggressive note stuck to her door.
What was even more surprising was the fact she thought it had been written by a child.
The woman snapped a photo of the message, The Sun reports, and posted it to Reddit and said she had had “issues” with her neighbours before.
“So this afternoon when I was leaving for work I found this note on our door,” she explained.
“Clearly it’s written by a child, and if I had to guess I would say it’s our downstairs neighbours. We’ve had issues with them before, like back during Xmas.
“They would send their teenage daughter to tell us to keep it down if we walked in our apartment after like 10.30pm. We don’t do laundry past 9.30, nor run the dishwasher. Just walking. Community quiet hours start at 10pm.”
The angry note read: “Hello this is a note to ask to keep it down. You are to (sic) loud everyday (sic). It would be nice to be able to sleep for once.”
“I don’t know how a person be this loud all the time, like get a job,” it continued.
“I thought you had an elephant.”
The woman explained that she works odd hours due to being employed at a restaurant, and the same goes for her nurse sister, who she lives with.
“I really feel like with the exception of walking early/late, we don’t really do much in terms of noise,” she added.
“It’s not even like we’re talking as my sister and I are rarely home at the same time.”
The woman said that her leasing office sent out an email reminding tenants that “walking noise is a part of apartment living” and people have to “deal with it”.
“My mom thinks I should bring it to the leasing office and let them deal with it,” she added.
“I don’t know for sure who it was, so I’m not gonna go to anyone’s door and confront them.
“I just think it’s so weird and UNSAFE to send your children to resolve your issues with neighbours who you do not know.”
People were quick to comment on the neighbour dispute and offer up their suggestions.
“Thank you for the note but please tell your parents to be grown adults and not send a child to do their dirty work,” one said.
However, one claimed: “I’m thinking it’s an adult. People have zero writing skills, it’s a keyboard world.”
“Put an elephant in your apartment and take a screenshot. Print it and attach it to the note,” a third said.
“Yes, we do have an elephant! Her name is Lucy.”
