'Game-changer': Mum shares genius snack hack for road trips with kids

A mum has found a game-changing solution to the age-old road trip dilemma: how to keep the kiddos fed without turning the car into a complete mess.

The snack cup hack for feeding hungry kids on the go

Taking to TikTok, the savvy mum showed off the portable snack cups on a recent Maccas drive-thru trip she did with her family.

The mum, Sarah Gordon, said she bought the 1L Reusable Cup Tumbler Snack Cup Bowl Cup for $18 from Homeware Discounts, but you can also get them from Temu, Shein and eBay.

 "Let's try these bad boys out!" she says at the start of the clip, to cheers from her kids in the back seat.

She then places a cup of medium Macca Coke inside of the drink section of the cup, then screws the snack cup full of nuggets and fries to the top of the cup. The built-in straw sticks out of the top, meaning you can snack and sip at the same time. No more fighting over food or spilling drinks on the seats!

Sarah then shows off her and her husband's cups, filled to the brim with food and says, "That's a feast!" before saying 'cheers' with their massive cups and taking a sip.

"You can also comfortably fit them in the cup holders, too. We can fit two next to each other and you can fit them in the door cup holders as well," she adds. 

She added her final verdict in the caption — 10/10!

"Where has this been my whole life?!"

The comment section was full of praise for the hack. "Just ordered the snack cups! This will be a game-changer for our upcoming road trips in summer. Thanks for the tip!" exclaimed one user.

"I just know that Maccas fries will taste better in these," another cheered.

Then this person exclaimed, "Where has this been my whole life?!"

"I have three kids, need this," wrote another mum. 

Then more words of gratitude came from this woman, "Probably the best thing I have ever watched."

People asked 'what's the point?'

But others weren't so impressed and pointed out some flaws.

"Umm... they come in a container already?" said one person.

Then this person added, "Looks like a good idea but I buy Happy Meals so I don’t have to wash dishes. 😂 We just throw the kids the boxes and pray the youngest doesn’t drop his."

Another wrote, "I thought the point of fast food was no washing up?"

Then this person suggested an alternative, saying: "You can use the McDonald's burger box it works the same and you put the straw through the hole in the middle of the box."
