Former Adelaide weather presenter Virginia Langeberg is still on cloud 9 after welcoming her first child.

Now based in Sydney, Langeberg gave birth to baby Nahla in mid-October, and said she and partner Dario are “besotted” with the new addition to the family.

“She is very happy and healthy, arriving just a few days ahead of her due date,” the former Nine weather girl told The Advertiser.

“I’m absolutely loving being a mum. Dario and I are besotted with her.

“I’m in constant awe of this little human learning to navigate her new life. The cuddles after feed time are my favourite.”

On maternity leave from her role as a presenter with multicultural broadcaster SBS, Langeberg said she met Dario three years ago and the couple had been planning to start a family this year.

Now they’re busy embracing the “newborn bubble” with Dario taking time off from work to enjoy fatherhood.

“The thrill of when you nail a successful transfer of baby into bassinet without waking her after she’s fallen asleep in your arms. It’s bliss and I know this special time won’t last long,” she said.

Langeberg left Adelaide at the end of 2015 after seven years with the station, including two as weather presenter, to move to the UK where she worked for BBC News.

She returned to Sydney in 2018 and started with SBS in July of that year.

Langeberg said she and partner Dario hope to take baby Nahla overseas to visit some of their relatives in coming months.

“She’s a lucky girl with relatives scattered all over the world. My partner’s family in northern Italy and mine in Adelaide, Tanzania and Sweden,” she said.

“We’re planning to spend some time during my maternity leave going to visit them.”
