Diners and staff have been evacuated after a Melbourne restaurant caught fire.
The Ancient Memories Restaurant on Lygon St in Brunswick went up in flames about midnight on Thursday.
More than a dozen staff members and diners were evacuated following the blaze.
A Victoria Ambulance spokesperson confirmed a man in his 30s was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a stable condition.
A Fire Rescue Victoria spokesperson said smoke and flames were billowing out from the back of the restaurant.
“Itwas reported that 15 people were inside the building at the time of the fire. All persons evacuated, with Ambulance treating one person for smoke inhalation,” the spokesperson said.
Firefighters worked to fully extinguish the fire for hours, with crews ventilating the “heavily smoke logged premises”.
“The fire has damaged a rear room and roof area of the restaurant,” the spokesperson said.
Victoria Police said the fire has been deemed as non-suspicious.
