Melbourne woman shares amazing Bunnings cake to TikTok

Aussies are gagging for this woman’s Bunnings-themed party cake after she shared the “simple” design on TikTok.

Woman’s ‘stunning’ Bunnings cake goes viral

An Aussie woman has “stunned” online users with her clever Bunnings-themed cake.

Tigga Maccormack, a baker from Melbourne, shared a TikTok of her “simple” party cake on Tuesday, that has already attracted more than 129,000 viewers.

She told news.com.au she recently discovered it has become a bit of a trend to have Bunnings-themed birthday cakes.

“At first I was like, ‘Oh my God, is this a thing?’ Then I looked into it and saw they were and was like, ‘This is so cool,’” Tigga said.

And so she decided to go with an easy-to-make design for those who aren’t pro bakers.

In the clip she noted the hardware store had brought out a party pack and to celebrate she would make a “cute little” cake.

“I used red and green cake, did a semi-naked finish and put the Bunnings logo truck on top which you can get from [the store] and make it yourself – it’s super cute,” she said.

“I just filled the truck up with lollies and had it pouring down the cake, added a Bunnings logo and some bunting.”

Tigga then showed off all the Bunnings items from the $29 kids party pack that included cups, plates, hats, name tags, cutlery, invitations and serviettes.

“The box everything comes in can be turned inside out and into the cake stand. Genius,” Tigga said.

When Bunnings announced the new pack just a few weeks ago, shoppers lost their minds.

“Our customers helped inspire our newly launched party packs and we love hearing and seeing all their positive feedback so far,” Bunnings director of operations Ryan Baker said.

Tigga’s post attracted hundreds of comments from baking enthusiasts and Bunnings fans eager to give her colourful cake a go.

“That looks stunning!!” one user wrote.

“I want a Bunnings party now,” another wrote, while a third joked: “I mean can I have this as an adult for my birthday this month or is that just sad?”

Tigga, who runs Cake For Days from her Melbourne home, used ingredients she already had, but said those looking to replicate the cake can buy pre-made mixes and icing from their local Coles or Woolies.

The professional baker said given she has a large Aussie audience on TikTok, she wasn’t too shocked at the clip’s positive reaction.

“How did I not know this? This is adorable. My dad is completely obsessed with Bunnings,” one very excited TikTok user commented.

Some of Tigga’s overseas followers had no idea what Bunnings was, and were very confused why she was making a cake based on a hardware store.

“One person commented that they would never have a party theme for their local hardware store,” she said, laughing.

Many Aussies chimed in saying Bunnings is an Australian institution.

“Prior to Bunnings, hardware stores here were small shops. These massive warehouses changed everything,” one user wrote.
