A Hungry Jack’s employee dressed in uniform and wearing disposable blue gloves is standing inside one of the bins and appears to be using his body weight to compress the rubbish. He then climbs into the next bin to do the same as another employee starts pushing the additional bags in.

Hungry Jack’s said it is investigating the matter internally, with a media representative saying “We have strict processes to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and customers.”

A manager from the Melbourne restaurant in question, which is situated on Elizabeth Street, said the video is about two years old and that the incident took place after rubbish had not been collected for several days.

They said what occurred in the video is not common practice in that restaurant.

The act was quickly labelled ‘disgusting’ by commenters on TikTok, with one person exclaiming, “This is so wrong”, while another said, “Uh oh, Health and Safety be giving them a visit now.”

“That’s disgusting and I work in fast food,” one commenter said, “never thought I’d see anyone actually do this.”

Another person joked, “Secret sauce - bin juice.”
