A new collection spotted at two of Australia’s biggest department stores has raised eyebrows, with one claiming it was “giving Flintstones”.
Popular Facebook page Stuff Mums Like shared a snap of Kmart’s new collection. The range featured linen blend skirts, dresses and denim-like jackets and jeans. Every item was in leopard print, ranging from $15 to $30.
Later in the same week, the woman behind the popular social media range spotted another leopard print range in Target, which is owned by the same company as Kmart.
“So Target is on the leopard print bandwagon too. Their collection is really giving Flintstones vibes,” the set of images was captioned.
Social media erupted at the sight of the divisive fashion print, with many declaring they weren’t a fan.
“Am I the only person who hates leopard print??? I really just can’t stand looking at it,” one social media user commented.
Another added: “Imagine combining all those pieces together lmao.”
“Oh my! I was forever traumatised by leopard print as a child. My mother had a giant leopard print mumu that she wore all around the neighbourhood and would tuck the bottom of it into her undies,” another revealed.
One social media user added: “Not for me. I am middle aged, and am probably already too much of a stereotype. I don’t need to add leopard print to my wardrobe to up the ante.”
“Well, the clothing reflects the state of dating these days. Out in the wild ha,” one said.
But others were all for it, with many praising the range.
“According to my tween it’s ‘glamour’,” one said.
Another social media user commented: “I am getting Shania Twain vibes.”
“I nearly bought those pants yesterday,” another said.
One social media user commented: “I have actually tried that dress in and it is cute as f***k, the top is also cute with jeans however unfortunately it doesn’t hold my melons well. Some of the pieces are cute, the others not so much.”
“Love it a bit of spice girl (Mel B) vibes,” one added.
A Kmart spokesperson told news.com.au the brand was committed to provided “on trend, affordable” pieces for all.
“Embracing the global leopard trend, Kmart offers a range of fashionable pieces that allow customers to incorporate this timeless print into their wardrobes with ease. Customers are loving the versatility and statement-making appeal of this pattern that adds a chic, bold flair to an everyday look,” the spokesperson said.
Meanwhile a Target spokesperson told news.com.au the range has proven to be popular.
“At Target, we strive to deliver elevated quality in styles that not only reflect global trends but also offer great value, versatility, and options to suit diverse tastes,” the spokesperson said.
“We’ve seen many shoppers sharing their excitement for the Lily Loves leopard print range, tagging us on TikTok and Instagram with their positive feedback.”
